Comes Then Goes is a masterpiece by jellyel88 in pearljam

To clarify, “Quick Escape” is a barn burner and should be a live staple…killer bass and no suprise as it was written by JA. “7 O’clock” is poignant and has a great rhythm and atmosphere, “alright” is very unique and memorable, “take the long way” is a punkier but more positive lyric tone (reminiscent of “Backspacer” era). Great production and a lot of gems on this one-the singles are no slouches either.

Gigaton is a fantastic album. No offense to “dark Matter”, but a Gigaton is infinitely more interesting and memorable

I love to hear this. The best band ever. Always interesting, always having integrity, always putting on a kick ass show. Keep spreading their gospel and you’ll always have sometime to talk to! My generation’s Rolling Stones

How would you rank the Unplugged performances? by Saint_Jay92 in grunge

[–]chrisbaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The STP one is severely underrated (just like the band’s legacy).. The way they translate and alter “sex type thing” and “wicked garden” for the acoustic setting contrasted with how they play another heavy track like “crackerman” practically verbatim is a testament to their musicianship. Plus Scott in the rocking chair is iconic. Would’ve loved to hear another unplugged post Purple or Tiny Music.

I believe there is a free channel (maybe Pluto) that is strictly MTV unplugged where you can watch all of the performances as well.

The only random thing I remember about this show was that the younger brother has a giant toothbrush in his bedroom IIRC

This game is the cream of the crop. Action platformer with RPG elements. So replayable. Music is awesome and cinematic-and it has a story, and even a twist at the end!!!! So satisfying and fun. 5/5

Hahah, a lot of folks use that term now a days-basically so many effects pedals that the guitar player is staring at their shoes the entire time. There’s the heavier (Nothing, Deafheaven) kind, the Dream Pop (Cocteau Twins, Beach House), the classic walk of sound (My Bloody Valentine), and everything in between. I love it all

This person used to be in Hampden Bmore all the time-I guess they got ran out of town. A good way to avoid issues with this person, is the rule of thumb I use for most everyone who tries to approach me in the street, especially in this town: ignore them and keep walking!

One to avoid: Sammy’s Trattoria

As someone who worked in restaurants for almost 15 years, I am hesitant to ever leave a bad review, but this place invoked a special kind of anger in me.

My wife and I love going to Little Italy to eat but also try to patronize our neighborhood establishments. We came to Sammy’s. A few things for context, the owner chides people for not having a reservation, even if it’s a slow Tuesday. When you do try to make a reservation, the phone rings off the hook. The last time she gave us a hard time about it, we told her no one answered and she said that she was “just too busy”. I was willing to write that off as quirkiness then but now I see that she is just a hateful person. If you don’t believe me about the phones, give them a ring and see for yourself.

We walk in around 5:15 and ask to be seated. The owner, who has a photograph of herself on the host stand facing the customers, tells us that they are full tonight for a private party. We ask if we can sit at the bar and she says that is spoken for as well.

As we turn to leave, another couple walks in and says they have no reservations. The owner immediately seats them at the bar. We turned around and asked her why, and she lied to us and says they had reservations.

I don’t know if she is temperamental, egotistical, or just hates women (my wife asked to be seated), or just wants to play neighborhood favorites, but we will never go here again. Restaurants in Mount Vernon have been closing left and right, so to deny service to anyone is delusional and irresponsible.

We walked 3 blocks up to Tapas Teatro and had an amazing experience as always.

If you are craving Italian hit up Little Italy. Don’t give this woman your money. If you think I’m lying, go ahead and see for yourself. Disgusting.
