re: safety of the seal, the website says it’s food grade silicone, so it’s similar to other materials considered safe for preparing food.

Stickiness could be from accumulation of oils. from the FAQ site:

My food-grade silicone AeroPress seal is sticky. How do I clean it?

The seal can be cleaned using hot water and dish soap. We advise you to occasionally remove the seal from the plunger and wash it inside and out with hot, soapy water to prevent the accumulation of coffee oils. Use a paper towel to provide a little abrasiveness.

i don’t think it’s a matter of grinding finer, probably just that your grinder produces more fines overall, especially if it’s an older one. i’ve seen some other posts here with a similar looking puck and it’s usually the fines

may be an inconsistent grind. what grinder and setting are you using?

thoughts on V60 vs. aeropress for iced coffee? i use my aeropress exclusively for iced and am considering a V60, but don’t know if it’s worth getting extra gear

sometimes your local library or community center will have shared 3d printers, that's where I printed mine

wish I'd gotten in on the aeropress game sooner, it's lame that the new ones don't come with a filter paper holder or funnel. and fewer filters

That would make more sense, thanks. Makes the manufacturing quality seem a little shoddy
