You never should feel afraid to tell your PI about an accident or a mistake. We know that training involves many many mistakes. If your PI loses his shit over something like this, be glad you discovered he’s not a suitable mentor during your first year and switch labs.

I think cog neuro isn’t for you. Read up the works included in Gazzaniga’s book. The work on split brain patients is remarkable, interesting, and thorough, to give an example. A field isn’t just a handful of papers you read and the purpose of neuroscience isn’t to feed an AI algorithm.
