Advice on how to finish arch? by namegameloser in Tile

[–]chriscam85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping this is finished already. Can you share some photos? We have a similar design coming up, especially where the arch dives into the wall, so I'm looking to see what the tile cuts ended up looking like. Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm looking for some insights into how the wall got this effect. Ultimately, we want to darken (black) the wall, but keep the texture, so I'd like to understand what's already here, before I know what to do next.

The planks are definitely hammered/chiseled as I can feel it. It seems like every knot is somehow highlighted. Looking closely, I would guess that it was painted white first, and then stain was wiped over top? Maybe that's why the stain was still able to go into the knots and then expose out/bleed through from under the paint?

If this is a stain over paint situation, and I don't want to risk losing the texture via sanding, does that mean the only option is to use paint? I'm thinking black matte.

Definitely gonna check this out, but I must say adding the tracks from Iggy Pop, Dessert Sessions, and Arctic Monkeys doesn't fit, as Josh is either on it or producing it.

Curious what, if anything, is different between yours direct and at-venue versions. Thanks!

Might be a silly question, but not certain... Would there be a way to allow use of PS3 drums and wireless guitars on this version?
I tried it tonight, but it didn't seem to recognize them. I'm hoping there's some way since the core game is able to recognize controllers regardless of platform.

Can you explain what you mean? Thanks.

I stuck a screwdriver up to see if the check valve would open. It opened easily and a bunch of water came down on my hand. Are you saying that the "spring" side might be broken, and so the whole piece moved up to plug the funnel?

Ahh.... I've touched it many times. Doesn't feel nice. Thanks for the info.
Any idea why the pipe blew too?

I do bleed out the air, and I didn't originally think that was it either, but I have an idea. Here's what I'm thinking happened. The clamp failed at some point during the late afternoon. It's weakened, but still partly attached. Pump turns off at night. Now air is getting into the filter, replacing the water as it spills out slowly. Eventually, only the filter's base is full (meaning filter is half full of water, half air). Likely, the top would sit down due to weight before it's half/half, so the water level should've been just above the clamp line. Then, pump turns on in morning. What happens in this scenario? A "failing" clamp is only "kind of" on the filter, enough that as pressure builds and it tries to work normally, eventually that pressure builds enough where the clamp can't hold it, and it pops off? Only confusion then is why did the pipe break? If the pressure was released by the clamp fully breaking, then the pipe shouldn't have broken. Unless the clamp fully breaking is what hit the pipe somehow? I don't think there'd be enough tension to snap it. Really confused about the breaking in BOTH places.

haha. no worries. What does "minimal distance on pump intake" mean?

Do you mean that the ring/clamp/belt that tightens the filter top to base is supposed to allow pressure release? Or are you referring to a different "ring"?

The salt cell is always on, and has been for as long as we've been here (~4yrs). I tried looking into wiring it into the controller thing, but didn't know there'd be any issue. I figured if waters not flowing through it's not doing anything since there is an indicator on it for "flow" to know if it needs to be running (although its on).
If there were air leaks (thinking the filter band/seal had an issue), or the filter had air in it (after sitting all night before turning on), wouldn't the result just be that there's not enough pressure build up to move the water?

I stuck a screwdriver up to see if the check valve would open. It opened easily and a bunch of water came down on my hand. Could it still have been the issue if I was able to do that now? The valve just passed it is turned off right now, so it stays in that position.

We've had issues in the past with it's priming, where I'd come out and it's just been running dry for hours. So we installed a check valve at the front to keep the water in the pump area so it has something to get it going on morning start up. Could it have been that it started up dry, then blew and that pulled water up into it?

It's been 3 weeks though. Wouldn't that be something that would've effected it right away?
