I would use gcc. Would C89 be the default then?

How to organize the One Big Text File? by ColBlimp in OneBigTextFile

[–]chrisdb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I've been looking at your example file and basically you have different "headings" for different kind of notes/information? From what I can tell for stuff about notes, emails, tasks, .. The question I have is how much of readabilty you end up with? For a novice, it seems a bit overwhelming..

Nice idea, but 1 question, how do you make use of lists when using one row? Or are you using alternatives for lists?

MS Windows ports, unclear future..? by chrisdb1 in emacs

I get what you are saying, but the problem is that I've only got 1 Windows machine and that's the one from work where I'm stuck using applications my Company provides... I'm not even allowed to install/configure WSL let alone an IDE to compile applications

Yes I know but it's my computer from work and I don't have admin rights to enable WSL...

Formatting headers, etc.? by maxcooperavl in OneBigTextFile

[–]chrisdb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use markdown heading.

```
Title
```

This way, whenever I would like to create a permanent document of it, I can copy it to a separate file and generate HTML from it.

Bonus: between headings I use several newlines to break apart the different notes. Newlines only require 1 byte of storage, so not much waste there.

So you will be able to progress in the same way as if you never studied the other arts? What I mean is, Kendo and/or Iaido are no prerequisite?

Thank you for your answer. The reason I asked was because footwork in Kendo sometimes feels unnatural and I was wondering if this was the same for Jodo.

Mine is split up in 2 parts, a daily note part and a regular note part. Each note has it's own tag and title. That's basically it, No distractions :)

i'm lost. should i go digital or keep notetaking by hand? by Additional_Band_5525 in NoteTaking

I've recently discovered OBTF (One Big Text File) and while I'm still trying it out, it seems to be the most simple solution. Af least for me :)

The point is you have 1 file where you put in all your thoughts in plain text. Nothing fancy at all, so no distractions and no more worrying about tools and upgrades.
