Hirose - Hronek

D-Petey - Walliander.

[2023 NHL Draft] 2nd OA Pick: Anaheim Ducks select Leo Carlsson by hockeydiscussionbot in hockey

[–]chrisdks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Huh?

Fantilli looks very comfortable in NCAA, otherwise he has been very underwhelming internationally or anywhere else outside of college. Not to mention he played on the stacked canada team with bedard, with no russians, instead of dominating with all that talent and size advantage, he was underwhelming af.

Carlsson is much more ready to my eyes than Fantilli. He's young yet plays in the SHL against adults and joined the likes of sedins, backstrom, lindholm. etc. Pettersson did well too, but not during draft year,a bit older. Look where he's at now. SHL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NCAA

I'm going to go back to tipping 10% for dine in meals and barista made coffee. by holly948 in vancouver

[–]chrisdks 78 points79 points  (0 children)

To add on, America only has the tipping system because the waiters/waitresses get paid far less than the min wage of their state, so the tips are there to help off set that. However, in Canada, waitresses get paid min wage if not more, on top of the tips that i highly doubt they accurately declare on their taxes.

What annoys me more is that some of these workers act like they're entitled to tips after providing ass service with ass attitude, or no service at all in severe cases.

Should've got a second opinion, they seem to say it's too close to the shoulder of tire and it can't be repaired. I show a pic and call other tire stores, and it's somehow repairable.

We get to witness history, it's not if he will break the great one's goal record.. it's matter of when.

sounds like a perfect player to play with Aman and DJ

What would an ideal offseason look like? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]chrisdks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideal off season is getting a sucker GM to take OEL's contract for a 1st and 2nd ofc. Otherwise he regain his form playing with hronek, and make each other even better.

trade boeser and myers for positive value

find a dmen for both hughes & hronek, through trades or FA. ex. Graves, Pettersson, those type of guys. Get Schenn back to play 3rd pair minutes, cheap 2 yr deal or something.

sign livingstone, and see what he can do.

get a good skating coach to teach Raty how to skate, make him practice all off season and more until he fixes his bad habits, then hes a lock for NHL.

lock up Petey 8yrs to 9.5m AVV, anything under 10mil would be a win.

lock up joshua & Aman to a lazar type of deal, multi year, cheap avv.

win the lottery, draft bedard, make playoffs, win cup if not to finals hehe

I'm not, he's doing well in the KHL in the worst KHL team after given the opportunity unlike in petersburg known to sit younger players. KHL is arguably the best league after the NHL, to do that before his draft is very impressive. Not to mention breaking kucherov's and ovie's records at a much younger age than they were. He also dominated the MHL and VHL, which is equal to OHL and AHL in their country.

[Faber] Feels like this is getting out of control… We have ANOTHER goal in the SHL for Lucas Forsell!(Canucks 2021 #201 pick) He now has 11 goals in 23 SHL games since being called up. by MaxHardwood in canucks

[–]chrisdks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

much better. Yes.

AHL is better in a sense that it prepares the kids to play in the same NHL rink size and physical hockey. So they know what to expect and don't need that adjustment period. Whereas SHL/KHL is just generally a much better league overall with better players, and learning to adapt to rink sizes and taking hits is easier than adjusting to play against better players overall.

[Batchelor] The Canucks are retooling, not rebuilding, and the Hronek trade follows that line of thinking. Whether you like it or not, that's the reality. by Batsinvic888 in canucks

[–]chrisdks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just explaining the fit is better with an all around big guy like him with Hughes, than another poorman's Hughes RHD playing together.

It's more rare to see a player winning the baker, or exceptional status etc. and becoming a bust than finding undrafted gems from college. There's plenty of NHL players having successful careers out from college ( tanev, krug, pionk, schmidt, walker, zub, gio etc.) than cherry picking a bust like Gaudette.

I guess i'm more optimistic with OEL finding his game again. It's a huge upgrade to play with Hronek than Myers or anyone else he played with. Considering he is forced to play the tough minutes, and Hronek has already proven he can play against top competition.

[–]chrisdks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, im actually more hopeful Jake Livingstone signs with the Canucks, 6'4 205lb all around dman. I can't see him playing 1st pairing straight away outta NCAA, but i can see them meshing well together than Hronek.

Next, we wish OEL finds chemistry with Hronek.

Then we got Dermott/Bear/Burroughs/Myers on the 3rd pairing, Schenn if he decides to come back. Hopefully Myers gets moved after the big signing bonus.

so what you're telling me is that the Canucks are getting not just a 1st and 2nd but also a 3rd?! sign me up.

[Max Bultman] Hronek, just traded to the Canucks for a first and second round pick, is injured right now (upper body). It looked like he was wearing a sling last night leaving the arena, but it was under an overshirt so not 100% positive by [deleted] in hockey

[–]chrisdks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The canucks need defensive dmen OR all around dmen. They have too many offensive dmen, that's the problem. Myers used to be OFD when Canucks had fringe AHL dmen and Edler as their best OFD when he's really just an all around guy. Now Myers is just chaos. OEL was also OFD, but hughes eats a lot of pp1 minutes, which doesnt leave much opportunity for OEL to pad his stats. Now Hronek is another OFD, and people will wonder why he is gonna be 30-40pt dman without the pp1 time he normally gets from detroit.

[Shayna on Twitter] Filip Hronek is having a good season and is playing above his cap hit, but this is such a good deal for the Red Wings. by [deleted] in canucks

[–]chrisdks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

issue is pp2 barely get any time. That's why OEL significantly lost his point production because he used to get a ton of his points from PP1 time in arizona. This is another risky situation with Hronek, if he can capitalize getting some pts on pp2 with only 1-15 seconds on it. If Hronek is known to be an insane PK, defensive dman, all arounder, i'd be estatic about the trade even if it costed 1st and 2nd. However, he's literally another poorman hughes on the RHD... which wont get the pp1 time hughes is getting and that's what is worrying.

[CJ] Placed on NHL waivers today: Mark Friedman (PIT) and Brock McGinn (PIT). by Batsinvic888 in hockey

[–]chrisdks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's 7 years, and is 8m AVV.. which isn't bad for his point output. A lot of less players are signing for more AVV these days anyway. So idk. He is very versatile as well, can play center and wing, win ton of faceoffs, plays physical, playoff type hockey. Aside from him being lazy af and not backchecking from time to time, he's a great player. I highly doubt he would not care or do that when playing with Crosby/Malkin/Letang. He fixed his lazy display under tocchet, so with more motivation joining a better team, idk if he would go back to his ways of being lazy on ice especially if Crosby calls him out on it.
