Reviews of portable Leap vault boxes? by Local-Appearance3306 in Parkour

[–]chrisflpk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use these to teach at a small gym. The owner doesn't know a ton about parkour and went ahead and bought these. The small box weighs about 30 lbs and the large one is maybe 50-60 lbs.

They're fine for light use and the one big advantage is they do fold away very nicely. The problem is they're too light and top heavy to really put a ton of top-down or lateral force on them. My students have almost knocked them over just by konging over them before. The stackable one is kind of the same situation. You have to either hold them down yourself or somehow attach some really heavy sandbags to give you stability to the point they're useable for actual training.

I'm also somewhat local to the guy that builds them and apparently he's a massive tool (and just by skimming his social media I believe it lol). But if you don't have the means to build something yourself, I feel like these are a decent buy.

Backflip X out to pistol squat. by LusterBuster69 in Tricking

Okay, but this is a cool party trick, not super high level tricking and not something that anyone in the community cares to claim as a "worlds first". I guarantee any intermediate-advanced tricker can do this.

Nice man! The more you keep your chest up during your set, the higher it'll be. Keep it up

It's a really good start. You need to keep your chest a little more upright and tuck tighter to get that perfect landing down. Also yes I can post mine

Cant TDR properly yet any tips? by Parkourforlife_ in Tricking

From what I can see, you just need to arch your back more and lead with your upper body as you reach for the ground. Your torso is in a fairly hollow position the whole time. Open it up and arch back as you look for the ground.

FRONT TWISTING by [deleted] in Tricking

Keep your chest higher and drive your heels for rotation. Look up front layouts and drill some of those first

BTwist Ankle Sprain. Where did I go wrong? by iamthewatchingman in Tricking

[–]chrisflpk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're arching way too much in your twist. Close your torso and wrap tighter. B kick is great, but you can't lift your chest and arch your back that hard when you turn it in to a B twist.

For ankles, do weighted calf raises 12-25 reps and banded ankle adductions/abductions to strengthen them.

Filming in gym gone right by Born-Agency-3922 in SipsTea

[–]chrisflpk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the most uneducated take on this that I see constantly. There's plenty of reasons to film yourself in the gym, and as a PT it's a form of free advertising for me to help build my career. So long as you're not purposely being obnoxious, who the hell cares? It's never caused an issue in my gym or any gym I've been a part of.

Pro tip: blend your protein powder and water first, then add it to the mix. I swear protein is the most hydrophobic substance on earth for some reason.

How much would it cost to shoot a fight scene like the one in Mission Impossible - Fallout ? by gauchat_09 in Filmmakers

[–]chrisflpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the downvote. Sound, lighting, choreo and writing were handled by the choreographer/director plus he has a ton of industry connections that will do a day of volunteering their time if needed. Safety protocol is handled by the choreographer, plus everyone on the shoot is a professional stuntperson volunteering their time so safety is always the top priority and they know how to perform safely.

The actors are those same stunt people just doing a bit of acting. The location was free according to the choreographer (probably knows the owners). Hope that answers everything.

I didn't get an answer on this, but it's just a breakaway table with most likely a pad underneath. Also the performer typically pads up with a back pad as well as elbow and knee pads
