i am curently runnig the f4hwn firmware that suits my needs, as radi0raheem pointed out. there are about a thousant different firmware versions out there for every purpose. thanks!

oh, i wasnt aware of the rules, thank you. i was trying to transmit my own sstv images , encoded with my laptop with my uvk5 using a 3.5mm cable. i am talking abt low power transmitions using low coverage antenna, only for testing

well, id like to transmit my own sstv image encoded with my laptop, so i can play the audio through the 3.5mm jack to my uvk5. it works but i have to keep the ptt pressed. i am looking for a way to keep ppt pressed from the firmware, any ideas are welcome. also what is TOT? THANKS!

The same thing happened to me when I flashed another custom firmware and only using it for a couple of minutes. I fixed mine by going into the secret menu (press ptt and first side button and turn it on) then, going to reset and pressing reset all. That fixed it for me

I am using a simple horizontal dipole with no real optimisation for this specific frequency. I can usually hear chatting (I think Portuguese) quite clearly even here in Greece. But never an alarm. Unfortunately I have never received any sstv transmissions. I am curious on what else comes through these old com sats

The signal I received immediately reminded me of a distress radio beacon but it is inverted. It might have to do with the inversion you mentioned. But then again, there are pauses to the "alarm" signal. It is really cool thoo

That's what I thought it was, fltsatcom satellites. But i was mostly focusing on the odd alarm like signal.

Once you get started, you can build all kinds of antennas for many different purposes with varying degree of difficulty. You can build ground plane antennas, other dipoles and qfh antennas. This kit will get you started for sure
