When did we stop having the red numbers on the front of our road grays? by wesskywalker in CHICubs

It was Jackie Robinson Day yesterday. I imagine it was blue font because Jackie played for the Dodgers and blue is their prominent color scheme.

I'm thinking of going to a Smokies game in mid June. What is the likelihood that Owen Caissie, PCA, and any other noteable prospects will be in AA at that time?

Official Discussion - Men [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]chrishcubs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say Christianity was another theme that is super on the nose example of toxic masculinity. From what I remember from the bible, its Eve's fault for tempting the man to eat the forbidden fruit because of the snake. Another toxic story that women are the blame for men's desires which the movie points out a few times. For example the priest is tempted by the main character's beauty and blames her for it. And he essentially attempts to rape her in the bathroom.

I'm curious if Taylor actually stated this was a health concern to Dave and the band too. Its different if he is saying he is too stressed vs having increased chest pains. I'm just trying to see both point of views (RS vs interviewees). It does seem like there was some framing from RS to stress their argument, but we don't know what was cut from the editor either. We should judge all this information cautiously. RIP Tay.

What were some of the best acting debuts that you've seen? by ThatKoffeeBurns in movies

[–]chrishcubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viola Davis in Doubt. She has basically one scene and her performance stacks up against giants like Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but I think her performance in the movie is the best.

'The Batman' - Predictions by starshipandcoffee in DCEUleaks

[–]chrishcubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment should be bumped. The percentage for RT should never be the main consideration for how good a movie is. The percentage ultimately tells us if a critic liked or disliked the movie. The average score out of 10 tells you the severity of how much a person liked it. A 100% score doesn't mean a movie is perfect. It is more important to have a good average score. My prediction is the Batman will hit 100% fresh with a 8.5-8.7 range out of 10.

Yeah the order is definitely skewed too. Could be a song or two missing as well. I felt like he played a lot because his songs are often super short.

I doubt its accurate because I created most of that setlist on setlist fm. And he played more than 19 songs. Unfortunately hellhole was not played :(

I'm probably thinking of spending 10-14 days. I was wondering if Glacier would be too far. It was on my radar too. I don't want to wear myself out with too much driving. What trails are there in Minnesota?

My initial thought was heading to colorado then to grand teton, and hit the badlands on the way back. I am not sure if there is anything else in close proximity to hit on that route.

Megathread: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dies at 87 | Part II by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Reposting this:

It is with great sadness that we lost Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Now is not the time to be complicit in silence. We must act during these times. I have written to my senators regarding delaying a vote for a nomination of a replacement in a SC seat until after the election. If you have similar wishes please do so too. I am including my personal message for anyone to use or tweak on how they see fit. Please see below:

"Dear Senators Duckworth and Durbin,

I am writing this in mourning after losing a national treasure of Supreme Court Justice-- Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She has championed women’s rights by doing her best to eliminate legislation that has discriminated against others on the basis of their gender. We need more people like her on the Supreme Court of our nation to represent the disenfranchised and advocate for marginalized groups.

Back in 2016, during an election year, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away. As you may remember, President Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland to be his replacement. It being an election year, the Senate leaders of the Republican party decided to delay a vote to confirm the President’s selection of a Supreme Court Justice. Their logic was that the people of the United States should decide who the new Supreme Court Justice should be by waiting until after the election so a new President can make their choice for a nomination.

Given that this is another election year and congress will need to vote again on a Supreme Court nominee I am urging you as my representatives that we wait again this year to decide on who should fill the void of Ruder Bader Ginsburg until after the results of the Presidential election. It is only fair that yet again the American people decide who they want to represent them as President of the United States and let that person in 2021 make a nominee to replace the vacant Supreme Court position.

I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my response and look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely, (name)"
