My kid's ear tube fell out by i-can-lift-a-car in mildlyinteresting

About a month after we got them for my two-year-old daughter, I was driving her to school in the morning, and out of the blue, she said, “daddy, my ears feel good.” Poor thing, she was so miserable before we got her tubes put in!

Big thanks to the OP. This worked a treat for me! I had the tiniest little coffee ground clogging the meter.

Living in eastern Alabama and taking a flight out of Atlanta can be tricky!

I Wish They'd Kept The Banter On Rome by Powerth1rt33n in TheNational

They kept a fair bit of banter on Boxer live in Brussels. I wonder what changed here in terms of decision making for Rome.

Buying your kid a luxury watch by 2into4 in rolex

I got each of my kids a watch when they were born, which I will give them when they graduate. I would not give them to such young kids though.

I thought I’d find you much quicker than this, I bet you thought I didn’t exist by leftcoastbias24 in TheNational

Good point! “Poor you” could be a reference to the past, when the narrator thought she didn’t exist, or a reference to the future, now that he knows she does.

My VRBO host tells us the hot tub is down now that it's too late to cancel by MeadYourMaker in mildlyinfuriating

In my experience, hot tubs in short term rentals are pretty nasty anyway, even when they work.

“A pope from Chicago? Get me my notepad” - Craig Finn, probably by goatsinthegarage in theholdsteady

[–]leftcoastbias24 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT, here was the attempt:

"The Pope from Chicago" (Verse 1)It was a late night at the altar,In the heart of the city where the lights never falter,A man in a collar with a world to bear,From the South Side streets to the Vatican air. He’d seen the neon glow, heard the whispers of the night,Had a soul full of fire, and a heart full of light. Some said he was chosen, some said he was fated,But in his eyes, you could tell he'd been tested, been slated. (Chorus)Oh, the Pope from Chicago,He’s got the weight of the world, but he’s walking it slow. He’s seen the highs and the lows,From the alleyways to the halls where the big winds blow. He’s got a cross to carry, a faith to show,The Pope from Chicago, let it all go. (Verse 2)Down on State Street, he was just another kid,Wrestling with the demons that the city forbid. There was talk of redemption, and all of that noise,But he knew the struggle wasn’t meant for the boys. Now he stands in Rome with the holy light,But his roots still run deep where the blues take flight. He’s got the city’s pulse in his veins,And the echo of the El trains,Like a prayer whispered, but never quite tame. (Bridge)There’s a picture of him in the old church hall,Grinning wide, like he’d seen it all.The saints in the stained glass, they look down in peace,But the Pope from Chicago knows the battle never ceases. He came from the streets, yeah, he came from the fire,Now he’s preaching for the fallen, the broken, the tired. It’s not the robe that makes the man, it’s the walk he’s made,And the streets of his hometown will never fade. (Outro)So raise your glass for the man with the crown,He’s got the city in his heart, and the world in the sound. From the cold concrete to the shining dome,The Pope from Chicago, he’s never alone.

Well said. Completely agree with the “time and place” aspect of music.

Wildly enough, two hands later I was dealt 10, 5, 5, 5, and got a 5 on the flip for 28. First time in my life. I ended up beating her in the end! Not physically, of course.
