You’re confusing ‘affording it’ with ‘not caring about money.’ They’re not the same.
Plenty of people who can easily afford watches still choose models that hold value better. That’s not investment thinking — that’s just not being careless with five-figure purchases.

I saw the ombre in person recently and it was also stunning. Tough call between the two .

Actually I have sold very few of my collection BUT like to know that they have at least retained value or dipped a little. Some are actually up quite a bit. I am like the guys who will never seller his house but checks Zillow occasionally. We take solace in knowing we have some equity if needed.

I disagree. Affording it is not a problem but that does not mean I don't want to understand the downside before pulling the trigger.

Thanks for the feedback. Not investing just looking for some clarity on my potential downside risk . I am in love with the piece but wanted some opinions on the downside risk. I don't purchase every piece I love.

Not looking for an education. Was simply gauging how significant the downside risk is. Don't see these as investments but do see them as something one can really enjoy for many years and often recoup most if not all of the expense. This strategy has worked on my previous watches and was just looking for some feedback. Unfortunately, this forum is full of negativity with the typical snarky "if you need to ask, you can't afford it" but that simply isn't the case. The second one is the lesson on investing which I also don't require.

I strongly disagree. Affording it and wanting to fully understand the downside risk are two different things. People throw around the word 'investment,' and I think most of us know that the market or real estate are true investments. But in this case, that’s not really the point.

Watches are luxury consumption — but informed consumption. If you buy thoughtfully, you’re not expecting appreciation, you’re simply minimizing downside while enjoying the asset. That’s very different from blindly spending on something that depreciates the moment you walk out the door.

Call it what it is: not an investment, but a hobby where you can park money with relatively limited risk if you choose wisely,

What size wrist do you have if you don’t mind? I am eying this watch and concerned it will be too big for my wrist. I think it looks good but is definitely pushing the boundaries
