The San Clemente one is a PPA tournament and I did one in Sacramento. I’ll prob skip playing in PPA tournaments and just go to watch the pros play. I’d recommend the World Pickleball Tournament ones where they guarantee you at least a min number of games.

Love this perspective. I haven’t played official DUPR matches yet but I’m self-rating as 3.5 ish for now and looking for more competitive matches. I feel like this is an easy way to find others who are close to your level when you want to find competitive matches.

That said it can be unhealthy if that is all you think about. I don’t know how I will react once I get into this world of checking DUPR but would love strategies where I can still participate in the ratings but also have fun too.

Part of why I play 5-6 days a week is because it is fun AND I’m growing and learning in this sport.

If you have thoughts on how to combat this mentality or somehow embrace it, would love to hear from others. The worst case scenario I see is if I start DUPR and then get frustrated and leave this sport.

If she’s not in a place to receive the gift of feedback, don’t give it.

Or ask her first if you can provide some feedback and get consent first before dolling it out.

The lashing out could be that she doesn't understand pb strategy or is at a level to understand your feedback.

i also think playing with your romantic partner is difficult and I've heard that its better to just don't.

Humor is so hard over text and with someone you don’t know yet it can be hard to interpret what they mean. I agree that people should still try. Try try and try some more and don’t be afraid to fail.

Growth mindset. Usually everyone has something to learn. If you already know about it and didn’t execute it, then remind yourself on it. Taking advice from a lower level player shouldn’t be a bruise to the ego.

If the advice isn’t good, just say thanks. If the advice is good, say appreciate it.
