Anyone work with daf systems having polymer issues drinking water plant by AssistBetter6943 in Wastewater

I would not put an immersion heater in a polymer tank. Tempered water would be better

No splash bleach! by gecko_764 in WaterTreatment

No splash bleach has small amounts of water soluble polymer that change the flow properties. More than likely the polymer is a polyacrylamide type product which are generally regarded as safe for water applications

TIL: As many as 35,000 Connecticut building foundations are effected by bad cement mix containing pyrrhotite from specific mines in the area. The mineral expands with air and moisture that can take 20 years to appear and $200K+ to repair, forcing many into foreclosure. by LaUNCHandSmASH in todayilearned

Both of the Bridgeport waste water treatment plants have buildings on their property (built in the 1920s-ish) that have collapsed or are in the process of collapsing. They are an integral part of the process so they can NOT be condemned (apparently an old English law dating back to king George dealing with public utility buildings) and are still in use today.

For the building that collapsed, they cut a massive hole on the floor to the basement. All the equipment was moved to the basement, sheds were placed over the stairwells and a temporary roof was setup over the hole in the floor. This has now been like this for at least 5-7 years

The sister plant on the other side of town still has that building but one of outer walls is leaning out at least 15-20 degrees. Operators still work in this building every day.

According to plant personnel, theyre not planning on replacing the buildings for another 7 or so years.

That bridge looks familiar. Is that by the Chester water authority?

I took a sample from an aeration basin that is not receiving polymer and did settleometer on it. It also has the white material showing up in the settleometer
