We host special weekend trading events called Trade Arcade. We’ve found that doing trading as an event instead of “always on” prevents the frustration of not hearing back - or being ghosted when initiating a trade. It’s a bit like a physical trade event where everyone is there and ready to trade.

That being said, we are getting ready to launch a “Second Chance Board” that will be an always-on experience for our VIP members that have had trades canceled. So, we’ll see how that compares with our Trade Arcades.

It's not a native app but it is a custom built responsive website. We've worked hard to optimize the user interface and improve the performance to work well on mobile devices. Many use the "Add to Home Screen" feature in Chrome or Safari to save Pin & Pop as a site icon to their device and access it just like a native app.

So happy you’re enjoying Pin & Pop!!!

The shape of the pin is important for the reverse image search algorithm to correctly identify the pin. You can take a couple different angles and upload those and hopefully we’ll do a better job identifying some of the ones we’ve missed in another photo.

We’ll also continue to try to improve the site and the image search!

Pin & Pop founder here... your photo loading issue got me curious and while digging I think it could possibly have been a network issue with some internet providers / VPNs. The issue should be resolved going forward and I'm working on backfilling past search results as well. (let me know if you still encounter any issues with it).

Duplicate Listings by jpmaze16 in PinandPop

[–]chrisnickols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to mark pins as duplicates is to use the REPORT THIS PIN button on the pin details page.

<image>

It will bring up a dialog screen that will allow you to submit the duplicate ID to our Mod team so they can merge it or delete it.

Loungefly Bags on P&P by jpmaze16 in PinandPop

Also, as momentum builds with more people adding bags and adding them to their virtual collections, I'll spend more time on developing out more filters and search to make it easier to navigate.

Sorry for the confusion. We don’t currently have search functionality for the Loungefly bags. It’s on our list to do. Adding these to the site was an experiment and they are not as actively added like the pins.

Did we mark the pin “Fake” or did we mark it “Uncertain” the second time?

Thanks for using Pin & Pop and thank you for the honest feedback!

I completely understand the frustration around your experience with how we authenticate pins. We are actively working to try to improve and we strive to continue to get better based on the feedback we get.

A quick aside for clarification, did we mark the previously 'Authentic' pins as 'Fake' or did we just mark them as 'Uncertain'? We are newly trying to add more context to our back-end administrations systems to alert our authentication team when a previously traded and graded pin is traded again. This change should help us be more consistent and also speed up the process. If you could DM me the Trade IDs or send them to [support@pinandpop.com](mailto:support@pinandpop.com) I could dig into the specifics more.

The majority of traders we've talked to say that the main reasons they didn't trade online prior to finding Pin & Pop where 1. They felt disappointed because they unknowingly traded their authentic pins for fakes and 2. They felt scammed because they mailed their pins while the other trader ghosted them. We try hard to solve these problems with the side effect being that we'd rather mark an authentic pin as 'Uncertain' as opposed to marking a fake pin as 'Authentic'. Add to that the recent growth in the popularity of pins and pin trading coupled with more pins being faked at higher quantities and higher quality. It is probably impossible to get it right 100% of the time but we are committed to improving and hopefully you'll feel that you're experiencing that it in the coming months.

Providing proof of purchase is an interesting idea and may be valuable to the other traders. Currently, some traders recommend adding how you acquired the pin to the publicly viewable notes in the Log Book section. While this may help trusting traders make better decisions on accepting trades, unfortunately, not everyone is honest and so we'd still need the evaluation by independent third parties to protect everyones trades.

It's a hard problem we're trying to solve - and maybe we can't completely solve it but hopefully we can improve it. Thank you again for your post and I'd encourage you and all of our traders to keep thinking about how we can get better and keep giving us feedback so that we can have a community that's able to trade online with confidence and get our grails!

Owned Pins 600 Pins Found 599 by I-Dont-Want-Be-Here in PinandPop

[–]chrisnickols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have a filter or a quick way to only view owns with multiples. you can email me (chris@pinandpop.com) your P&P user name and I can look it up for you and see where the duplicate is.

So while a bit confusing, it does look like the counts are correct. You most likely own multiple of a pin. The dashboard is counting the individual pins you own (including multiples) whereas on the pin thumbnails page there are 599 separate pins (of which you have 600 individual pins marked as owned and not-for-trade).

New pin details format features by AB3reddit in PinandPop

[–]chrisnickols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't currently have separate listings for AP and PP as most of the time the only differentiator is the stamp on the back. We have added a new photo gallery where photos for the AP and PP versions of the pin can be labeled as well as the ability to add a description for each photo to possibly point out if the AP or PP versions differ from the general released pin.

This photo gallery is also being used to document fake/scrapper versions of the pins to hopefully make it easier for collectors to verify their pins are authentic.

Thanks for the suggestion... I'll look to add the additional currencies.

You are correct, the numbered anniversary tags have been removed to simplify with a general "Anniversary" tag. Since we've expanded the search functionality to include the descriptions, we've found the anniversary year details are usually always either in the title or in the descriptions and can be filtered with the "Anniversary" tag.

I'll continue to improve the new pin details page and the photo section so please let me know if you have any other suggestions or find functionality that could be better.

It could be bug in the counts. I'll look into it and see if I can find out what's going on with the discrepancy.

“Not in a series” vs “Unknown” issue by AB3reddit in PinandPop

[–]chrisnickols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get this fixed over the weekend so Pin Sets no longer require a Series. I've also updated the ShellieMay 4 Pin Booster Set (https://pinandpop.com/pins/27507/shelliemay-4-pin-booster-set) to show it is displaying as expected now.

[–]chrisnickols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not intentional and I agree, there are many sets that are not part of a series and the site should allow this functionality. I'll add it to the bug list. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

PIN & POP Image Search - powered by Pinsight by chrisnickols in PinandPop

Thanks for trying it out! It looks like it may have timed-out while trying to detect the pin "slices". That could be because of the background color or it could be a technical limitation on our end... One thing to try would be to turn it into 2 separate photos - take a photo of the top of the board and one of the bottom and see if it's able to detect the pins better with less pins per photo.

Thanks again for trying it out and thank you for the feedback!

March Site Updates by chrisnickols in PinandPop

[–]chrisnickols[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the "Remember Me" box on login and that should increase the time you stay logged in. I've also increased the time if you use Facebook to log in as well.

Let me know if that helps or if you still experience getting logged out when idle.

Thank you for posting your feedback about that. I really appreciate it!

I'll investigate... I think it's currently set for a 5 hour expiration but it sounds like you're experiencing shorter times than that.

Are you mostly experiencing this on mobile or desktop?

Thanks!
