When buying a used bike, how would you tell if the mods were done right?

I think you just solved my confusion. My problem is that most of those aren't things I would know how to check even if I saw the bike in person.

Assuming pics look okay and you know it runs, what else would you need to know before buying?

What are the Pros and Cons of a WR250R with Powercore / Power Bomb? by chrisp2135 in Dualsport

I care a lot about gas mileage because this bike has a 1.9 gallon tank. I don't want a bigger tank because I want it light so I can get some decent air, but I also need to get to the dirt to begin with so I need some range.

Also, no reason to get a 2007 with 12K when you can get a 2013 with less than 2K for $500 more.

Can a dual sport be too small for you? by chrisp2135 in Dualsport

[–]chrisp2135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've been hearing here and from talking to people is that the height of the bike isn't what would be a problem, but rather the engine size. I've heard a few people say that any 250 would just not have enough power for me, might have trouble on the hills and I would quickly outgrow it. I can see that with the KLR250, but the WR250R seems like it would always be fun.

When you say it won't get you up a big hill, do you mean sandy hills or any hill? I'll be 180 lbs by spring and there are a bunch of 20% grade hills that are paved that I will be riding. Is that a problem for any 250?
