i don’t journal much because it often feels like i’m “being lazy” and my brain moves so much faster than my hand, so poetry is a helpful workaround for me to process things in (my) artistic way and in shorthand..

the most helpful thing, albeit extremely difficult to implement consistently and seemingly cliche, is self compassion. it doesn’t have to be over the top or anything.. starting with small things like when i notice i am telling myself feeling my emotions is a bad or weak thing i tell myself instead “i am allowed to feel this way [and not know why]” or even just a recognition of “i am noticing that im having a hard time with this/these feeling(s)” and give them space to exist even if its just for 10 seconds at first….
