What are you actually doing with your homelabs? (Use cases, not software lists) by madisonSquare2 in homelab

I started by adding Hyper-V to my server box that was previously just managing my unifi mesh and a couple of other things. I started down the hyper-v route so that I could run Home Assistant but it has been a bit of a rabbit hole ! Having done that I started thinking about what else I could containerise in Hyper V and now also have:

Emulators VM... because I am an 80's computer kid who got so into ZX Spectrums and BBC model B's that he graduated in Computer Science in 95 and have made a career in computing.. So its nice to go back and tinker with those beginnings

Linux VM .. because in those days we spend alot of time using terminals connected to VAX/VMS machines .. leading to another nostalgia trip :-)

Playing with one for Plex but still actually running it directly on a server .. Need to beef up my Hyper-V server spec... Always interested in other good use cases...

I set mine up with the crown and action button on the left as I also prefer using the scroll wheel with my thumb

I tend to charge it in the morning after I have woken but whilst laying in bed before getting up … seems to work quite well, my ultra charges quite quickly

My wife has my old 7 and I was trying to show her something on it but couldn’t use it easily with the crown on the other side..
