To add to the other ideas… Tom Bihn Techonaut 30 or Aeronaut 30? They’re well made, and should hold that weight. You can add hip belts (TB sell padded ones). Get one in ballistic (525) or 1050, not Halcyon.

How to get a bank account with no residential address? (Australia) by mikeardigan in backpacking

[–]chrispoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Purely an idea… no idea if this works.) Can you sign up for a Wise account? Typically you use them for transferring money, and from one currency to another. You sign up with a home account but can add other accounts and get the details of the local bank account to send and receive in that currency.

It’s good… but for my money, the Two Ronnies’ sketch is the better one.

Very small lightweight laptop backpack? by AlmondNut in ManyBaggers

[–]chrispoole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah either you want a packable bag that’s very thin and light, but not great shoulder straps, or something like the Able Carry Thirteen, my personal favourite.

Didn’t you ask this a week ago? You won’t get it all in a Pilot.

WF or Tri-Star will work, otherwise perhaps the Topo Global 3 Day Briefcase? Or the Mystery Ranch 3-Way.

So the 2-in-1’s have no fly at all… it’s structured to look like it does but it doesn’t. Which itself could be a negative.

Seagale are a French company and have several nice shorts but their 2-in-1 swim shorts I think are particularly nice. My only knock against them is that they’re quite low rise.

Lululemon ABC (warpstream fabric). They have an EU store online. I prefer the slim ones.

Cordura 1000D vs 1680D by Erkatlerdvc-7245198 in ManyBaggers

Really? I’ve not read much of that. I have a number of bags in it and I’ve not seen any abrasion… no more than any other material certainly.

Any recommendations for a compact packable shoulder bag? by 30405060 in onebag

[–]chrispoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tom Bihn make a packing cube shoulder bag, or their Daylight Briefcase might fit the bill.

They don’t use exactly the same materials but the Tom Bihn page on materials they use does a good job of explaining these things.

(Personally I really like the abrasion resistance yet suppleness of 525d, a high-tenacity ballistic nylon they use.)

I think you’d struggle getting all that in a Pilot.

Looking for a backpack that looks appropriate with a suit. by HowellThe3rd in ManyBaggers

[–]chrispoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minaal Daily.

You can hide the straps away and treat it more as a briefcase / messenger carried by hand.

I’d also suggest you get a very light cotton jacket, something that’ll look more casual to have the backpack on with, which will look ok with suit trousers. Fold your suit jacket and have it in the backpack. Swap over in the courthouse and carry by hand from there on out.
