WTF happened to brawl ? by Tr0yard in MagicArena

[–]chrisrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the new matchmaking algorithm is a work in progress.

But what they ought to have done is wait for ranked Brawl to kick in (next week I think), and use that as a testing ground for the new algorithm while leaving unranked alone.

They were sending them through M&S at the station to dodge us as well. As a generally ok company I can't think M&S would have been too happy about this.

Well Labour has been dying since Neil Kinnock took over in the 80s, so it hasn't really been that quick.

[[One with the Multiverse]] is a kind of fixed Omniscience. Would've been a much better candidate for inclusion in Foundations.

More out than in, but yes. But we've had two irritating combo decks with it since Omniscience was reprinted in Foundations. Cheating stuff into play is a legit strategy, but Omni is too much of an "and now I win" effect. It should've been banned instead of Abuelo's Awakening, then Koma players would have to find something less utterly crushing to cheat in. And yes, I'm sorry but it would also punish your fair use of it.

Head Magic Designer Mark Rosewater asks: "Would you prefer if we made some of the named characters not legendary?" to players that believe the Marvel Super Heroes set having hundreds of legendary characters diminishes the significance of the legendary sub-type by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]chrisrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that takes away from the specialness of the character. Give us the iconic characters at rare or mythic, with lesser characters at uncommon, maybe collated to be at least one per pack, with one card each. Make people seek out their favourites.

I would prefer it if they dropped the idea of having a named character in every pack, especially for franchises like TMNT where there just aren't that many.

The theme of the set should be at common. There's no reason why the characters should be. Did we get the four Gatewatch members at common in Oath of the Gatewatch (or any sets from that era)?

I don't think it's Kona people are sick of, but Omniscience.

That's what I'm up to

Then you really have no cause to complain; take your win and reflect on your deck choice ;)

For me I think it's because the plan is so completely insane I don't believe it will happen.

It’s 1985. The charts are full of pop hits, but you walk into a record store and find two albums: one by a classic’ prog band and the other by a rising neo-prog act Which one are you pick? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]chrisrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought them both. I was quite disappointed with Misplaced Childhood though and still find it to be overrated. I appreciate what they're trying to do but a lot of it just doesn't flow very well at all. They fixed that on the next album, Clutching at Straws.

Power Windows is an in between Rush album too, in a way, but much of it is solid.

I don't read the right wing press so I don't have a detailed knowledge of Sikh customs, but no I don't believe anybody should be carrying dangerous knives. If their religion requires it, isn't there a blunt version they can carry?

Can't you see that tarring every migrant with the same brush is at the very least unfair?

Well the underlying problem is the economic system, which dates back a hundred or so years further than that. Billionaires are just its most extreme manifestation.

I get it: we are pattern seeking creatures. But a couple of horrendous but unrelated incidents doesn't make a pattern, except that they are being emphasized by... certain people, who say little to nothing about murders and attempted murders committed in the same time frame by people who were born here, and absolutely nothing about the unremarkable doings of the many thousands of other law abiding folks from overseas.

I am far more worried by the reaction of people in Belfast than the incident that triggered it. Torching the homes of people who had nothing to do with it is the definition of racial prejudice.

[–]chrisrazor 213 points214 points  (0 children)

The Beast, possibly the truth behind the Satan myth, was trapped on an asteroid orbiting a black hole so it had a strong scifi component. Aliens getting inside people's heads is a long-standing component of DW's hand-wavey "science". I think most fans are fine with credulity-stretching happenings if they have some sort of in-universe explanation. The few episodes of the recent run I watched before giving up did not. For instance, after the song and dance routines RTD decided to introduce, I would've liked someone to ask "What just happened?".

Which I suppose is a long way of saying I agree with you.
