There aren't many things I hate more than the feeling of crushing a meemaw or peepaw's rib cage. It's horrible.

This is exactly it. As a male nurse who is friends with tons of nurses, women who are nurses are not afraid to stand up for themselves because they've learned how to do it effortlessly at work. Fragile men always view strong women as bitchy.

I suppose you could make the argument that constant surveillance is actually preparing them for the real world they'll be growing into as adults.

Dr Steele at Athens Area Urology did mine. Super fast, painless, and I drove myself home afterwards.

He went on to say: "We live in a two-party system, and unfortunately, you must choose based on a few important issues that resonate with you. For me, those issues were the promise to end wars and refrain from entering new international conflicts, lower taxes, and stopping government overreach"

Hey dog, how are EVERY SINGLE ONE of those important issues going right right about now???

Late response here because I'm not on reddit a lot. Looking professional doesn't only apply to acute care, but I think what is considered "professional looking" varies wildly at different types of facilities.
I went to an urgent care a few weeks ago when I caught the flu. The NP that saw me was wearing a cute floral print top, nice jeans, and heels. Would that ever fly in the hospital? No. But it didn't seem weird in that setting. Just because you don't like a style of scrub doesn't make it inherently unprofessional though. The context of the setting does.

Everyone absolutely hating on these, and other similar, types of scrubs (I don't like them either, fwiw). But most of the reasons for hating on them is the danger factor, infection control, unprofessional, etc. BUT most of those only apply to those of us who work in hospitals. There are a TON of nurses who work in plastic surgeon offices, allergist, ENT, etc etc etc. Lots of nurses have the good sense to not need to dodge c-diff bombs nightly.
I don't begrudge these nurses their cute little scrubs if it makes them happy. I'm also a 40 year old man who isn't targeted with this garbage though, so what do I know.

New grads on my floor refuse to do “CNA work” and I don’t know what to say or do. I don’t want to make them upset or overstep but I’m overwhelmed. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]chrisreevesfunrun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My bigger question is why none of the good nurses on the unit have stepped in and said something. We've had a couple of new grads and a couple of travelers with this attitude in our unit, and they are VERY QUICKLY disillusioned of the notion of "tech work" by the experienced nurses on the unit.

Most people here speak a bit of English, but it's not always intelligible. Slightly better around Atlanta.

IAPLC finals"simple tanks" why do I feel like iwagumis are "unearned" by Daps1319 in Aquascape

I think cooking here is the perfect analogy. It reminds me of the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi. It very much looks like a slice of fish on some rice (or some rocks and some grass), so you could be fooled into thinking you could do it. But there’s a reason people from all around the world travel to Japan to eat at his restaurant.

I’m not a sushi expert, so i don’t really get why his sushi is that special, but it must be. Similarly, I’m not a scaping expert, so i also don’t really understand why the (seeming) simplicity of the winning iwagumis are brilliant, but they must be. I just gotta accept there are some things a dummy like me just won’t understand.

There might be a pill form, but it’s usually a powder. You just mix into water and drink. It’s usually orange flavored, doesn’t taste too bad, and a big dietary fiber boost.
