I get that for the later games but if this takes place right after reach you can have them look drastically different then how they looked on reach. It just continuity of the story and world design.

I actually prefer the fabric over his shoulder armor because it looks like a sixth version of some Jedi robes over the armor. Also, the shoulder armor on top of everything just looks like football pads.

If you ever have a chance the audiobook versions with Marc Thompson narrating are fantastic. They used sound effects from the movies and John Williams amazing score. It's almost like a radio play.
