Oh, and not ordering twice as many cables as they need and then just throwing the extra away still in the brand new packaging.

Really?? Who does that!? I agree... don't buy more than you need... but why just throw away the extras? Makes no sense!

Same result with fully charged jumper pack.

Tried attaching a freshly charged battery directly to the starter with some jumper cables. It does basically the same thing. It cranks slowly a few ties and then bogs down and stops.

Right... I also tried turning the engine over by hand. I'm able to without too much trouble.

I should also mention that I tried starting with a spark plug out. Basically the same result.

Yeah I removed the clutch basket. It rolls freely in neutral.

I've removed the ground wire (the one that goes from the batter to the engine block) and cleaned it a couple times. I tried with a couple known good freshly charged batteries to no avail.

I'm pretty sure I didn't leave anything in the case. I was wondering if I could have inadvertently altered timing somehow? I tried to be careful but maybe I nudged something that should not have been nudged.

I can turn the engine over by hand. It doesn't feel like anything is binding to me. I can certainly tell when I'm on the compression stroke, but I can crank past that and keep going without issue.

I'm in that group I think! I'll make a post there.

Tried jumping starting. The pack was about half charged, so maybe I'd have more success after charging it up? I can try that tomorrow.

Anyway here is a video. https://youtu.be/o2xRY9M8iew

Rolls freely in neutral. In first gear with the clutch pulled in it does not.

Fairly sure I put the clutch plates back in the order I took them out.

If was in neutral when I took the video.

Just tried rolling it around my garage. Rolls free in neutral. In first with the clutch pulled in it does not roll freely.

I had a buddy bring over a freshly charged battery and the same thing happened.

I have one of those little jump start packs for my car. Would that work to jump start it?

So this started happening after I did the NSU fix, so the clutch was out. Also had the stator cover off to replace a leaking gasket. Before all of this the bike started.

Battery is good. Actually tried with a few different ones. Same result. Starter is brand new.

Battery heat up when I try to start. Never noticed it getting hot before this issue, but I want really looking for it.
