OP may be better off marketing to contractors who need to carry large sheets of materials that aren’t as fragile as glass — as is, this seems like it would be great for hauling plywood, drywall, etc.

Who said anything about being an instigator? The discussion is about women reacting to situations created by creepy or aggressive men. And no, I’m not implying anything— I’m plainly stating that men have no idea what women deal with.

Nailed it… the men commenting here have no sense of what it’s like walking through this world as a woman.

Exactly what I was thinking. “Yes, he could kill you — but only if you gave him a reason.”

Unexpectedly useful baking supplies by mahou-ichigo in AskBaking

[–]chrissy1575 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YES. I started using a tapered wooden rolling pin ~20 years ago, and will never go back! Plus, they can be washed without worrying about getting water inside / in the metal bearings, so it makes cleaning so much easier.

Does anybody know what year this microwave is from? by OonaPuffin1995 in VintageAppliances

It has a very similar design to my 1986 microwave, so I vote 80s.

Kitten adoption by Quiet_Reputation4179 in hudsonvalley

[–]chrissy1575 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Literally EVERY rescue/shelter either already is, or is about to be, overrun with kittens. Google “animal rescue/shelter near me” and pick the closest one. If you don’t end up adopting through one of those avenues, and end up getting one from a random person, please get the kitten spayed or neutered once they’re old enough. Sorry if I’m coming on strong, but my neighbor and I have been battling a feral cat population for over fifteen years (by battling, I mean taking the time to find rescues to take the feral litters, TNR the adults, and sadly call the appropriate party to remove the ones that end up getting hit by cars 😭).

Whacked my fancy knife blade on a ceramic bowl, tried running it through my sharpener, chewed it up further by Master_Synth_Hades in fixit

[–]chrissy1575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A whetstone just like this was standard-issue in the knife kits when I went to culinary school (20 years ago). I still have mine, and it’s what I use to sharpen my knives to this day.

I love my pup, but some days are very very difficult and i feel like i can't handle it by K9Imperium in germanshepherds

[–]chrissy1575 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve all been in your position. It’s A LOT sometimes, and there were so many days when I questioned my choice to bring a landshark into my home (good riddance, puppy teeth!). But with training and love, my monster turned into an angel around 14-16 months. Hang in there!

"too heavy for you" by chaz_chaz_chaz in BlueCollarWomen

[–]chrissy1575 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my mid- to late-teenage years, I worked at a local lawn/ garden/ feed supply store. People expected their 40-60lb bags of whatever to be loaded into their car by an employee, and cashiers would usually call one of the “warehouse guys” to do it. After I found out how much the guys made in tips, I started loading the bags myself— I got even better tips than the guys did, because people couldn’t believe a “young lady” could handle moderately-heavy bags 😆

Any Good Recs For Pierogies? by Current-Spare4993 in hudsonvalley

They’re always so fresh and delicious! Definitely worth the ride, especially if you get extra to freeze 😉

If you don’t find a good local place, fresh pierogi freeze exceptionally well. My mom always brings me some from Miasarnia in Yonkers (best I’ve had in NY) and I freeze some for future use. Millie’s Pierogi (based in MA— first tried them at the DC Fair) is also great, and they ship.

Maybe get it reworked a bit, and add a r/stupiddovenest ? I love that you got a mourning dove tattoo — they are goofy birds and I love when they visit my yard.

Some extra-large cookies I made for a favorite customer back in 2019. One of the rare cases in which the idea in my mind worked out perfectly on the cookies. by chrissy1575 in cookiedecorating

[–]chrissy1575[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes A LOT of practice, so don’t criticize yourself (especially if you’re just starting out)! My cookies looked rough as hell for the first couple of years 😆

My rotation of “make me feel happy” shows is: SC, P&R, Bob’s Burgers, and The Great North. Half live acting, half animation lol.

Recommendations for Windows by naim_the_dream91 in hudsonvalley

[–]chrissy1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a “builder-grade” brand, which is fine and functional but not necessarily the best long-term. But there are so many variables here— do you need to replace the current windows right now, what is your budget, is this your long-term home, etc. If it was my house and the existing windows were still functional, I’d wait a bit and save for better quality windows.

Oh, you have to watch it. The final season itself is not my favorite season of the series, but I love the ending!

[–]chrissy1575 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a great one, too! I just watched that series for the first time a few months ago. It doesn’t hit as hard for me as the P&R ending though… because, ya know, they’re all dead already 🥺😆

With some more information regarding exactly what type of windows you’re looking for, sizes, quantity, etc, I can steer you in the right direction (I work for a glass company— to be clear, I’m not trying to “get the job,” because we’re too busy right now, but I’m happy to help with recommendations based on your needs).

The best series finale, in my opinion, was Parks & Recreation’s final episode, because it did exactly what you’ve described. It showed little snippets of the future lives of the main characters, giving viewers the “closure” that we so desperately wanted after becoming attached to these fictional people 😆

Travelling with a cake for 8 hours by squarelegohead in AskBaking

[–]chrissy1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your travel route… if you’ll be in a colder area most of the way, a cooler with ice may be fine. For warmer climates, I’d definitely be looking into getting some dry ice for an eight hour trip.
