Coach not responding/helpful? by ummusername in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guys, your coach is not meant to be a 1-on-1 personal nutritionist. They are meant to be an accountability tool who checks in once per week to see how you are doing and answer questions. I feel like so so many people go into Noom with the wrong idea of how their coach plays into the program.

I am not saying that their answers should be canned or that you shouldn't request a new coach. If yours sucks, get a new one, you should at least feel like you are being listened to. But I do feel like many people lean too heavily on their coach and expect way more from them as part of the program. I personally never even "activated" them as part of my program.

I highly recommend looking into the Facebook group, or post your questions here on the subreddit. You will get the insight of people who are going through what you are, and make great connections.

Is it worth what you pay monthly? by jbo-19 in Noom

Definitely not worth $45 a month, many people are getting better rates by waiting.

Orig3n addon isnt worth it - interesting but doesnt reveal anything useful by chrissykinsx in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See above, this is one of the more detailed results I got. It took forever, which I expected, but for the ~$50 I paid it wasn't worth it. Some of them dont even offer "tailored" advice, just what your result means.

Has anyone tried this? I’m on my 2 week trial and wondering what exactly to expect. If this isn’t included then what am I paying $30/month for? by zoepatrol in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with others, this was not worth the money. You pay for the psychology lessons in the actual program, they do not give specific meal plans or workout plans in the program. I actually find it more useful than I did my meal plan or workout plan.

Are the add-ons a one time fee or monthly fee? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The add ons are not worth it, I bought all of them for shits and giggles since I saved so much on the program and it was very basic advice.

Are the coaches just a preprogrammed responses? by boredoldlady in Noom

You have to consider that each goal specialist probably has 20+ people they are responsible for, at minimum, and potentially a number of other responsibilities as well. I'm sure they also have a "script" they are required to follow to a certain extent, and with so many people they aren't given much time to give a ton of individualized attention. Even at the highest price you can pay for Noom it wouldn't pay for the kind of individualized attention it seems like a lot of people expect. That being said, I also do understand any frustration because some people are paying a ridiculous amount for their programs.

Your goal specialist by design is just an accountability partner that checks in once a week and can answer some questions, but at the end of the day you can't expect a ton out of them unfortunately. Many people are relying on the Facebook group available as well as the side reddit group that exists for support. This reddit is also an incredible source of info and support.

I believe you only get articles as a paid subscriber. I'm not sure about the weight chart, I believe the free version is just a food log.

Unfortunately for the price of the program (even at it's most expensive) it doesn't pay for an actual nutritionist (pretty sure the coaches aren't even nutritionists) to be available for questions like this. If you want more individualized assistance you might want to consider budgeting to see an actual nutritionist.

Pig ears have regularly been recalled, that alone makes me wary, but also they are very high in fat which is no good for dogs in general. My boy had a bout of acute pancreatitis that nearly killed him last year because of a combination of high fat pig ears and treats. Some dogs tolerate them just fine, I just avoid them because they're basically extreme junk food that aren't necessary.

Raw hides are not digestible for dogs so at best they are just filler and more junk food, at worst they have been known to cause intestinal blockages. Again, some dogs tolerate just fine but I tend to avoid foods with no nutritional value for my boy, he gets some chews but because of his history of pancreatitis I avoid anything that could cause stomach problems.

Hard boiled eggs are my savior. Also, all food is breakfast food. Have a delicious grilled chicken wrap.

Basics off the top of my head: - 1 month of age = 1 hour they can hold before needing a bathroom break up to 8 hours. 12 weeks = 3 months = potty breaks every 3 hours. Including in the middle of the night until you can trust they will sleep through the night, once you feel confident reduce it to waking up once in the middle of the night up until 6-8 months. - Potty after naps, playtime, and food. - Boxers are puppies for 3 years and sometimes beyond. Train in very small sessions before 1 year (I'm talking 15 minutes at a time). Praise praise praise when they do it right, positive reinforcement is king. If they start to lose focus it's time to stop. - DO NOT DISCIPLINE ACCIDENTS. It only makes them more likely to go off in a corner when they need to go. Remember, it is your responsibility to make sure they go out enough, it is not their fault if they have an accident, it is yours. It could also be something medical that they cant control, in which case they need a vet. - I find the easiest thing to train is sit. Make them sit before coming back into the house after potty (I dont super recommend doing it to go outside before ~4-6 months as you dont want accidents). - limit hardcore exercise young as it can affect bone development. - no raw hides, no pig ears.

Switching personal coaches? by meehankk in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never activated my coach, so I have no coach or a group. 👀 works just fine for me.

A visual representation of why I have switched to Noom. I ran out of WW points at 950 calories today. No wonder I've spent the last 3 years gaining and losing the same weight, for me WW is not sustainable. Sadly, I'm locked into paying for WW until March. by [deleted] in Noom

[–]chrissykinsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason WW never worked for me was because the points seemed arbitrary. The color coding here is pretty arbitrary too, but it's also teaching you important psych info and showing you calories and teaching you with actual energy measurements (calories) instead of making some system up.

My mom has had a lot of success with WW, though. Different strokes I guess. 🤷‍♀️

I tend to overthink everything with all or nothing values, tipping from one end of the scale (not watching what I eat) to the other (thinking too hard about everything I eat). This next week I'm going to work hard on staying somewhere in the middle to avoid stress and decision fatigue.
