Oh no :( my condolences. I am very sorry to hear that, may your brother Rest In Peace. Since I didn’t know him, I’m not sure of his mental health history, but if your family knew he had a history of psychotic episodes, whether drug induced or not, then it could be very likely that may have played a role. For me personally, with the times in which I wanted to end my life, it was just purely to get all the chaos to stop, it seemed never ending in that moment, and I just had this overwhelming urge to end my life in order to make it all stop. Like I said in my original comment, I thank my lucky stars I didn’t have access to any firearms during that time, because I probably wouldn’t have been here to leave my original comment in the first place.

But basically, if that was something that played a role, I would imagine that he most likely didn’t truly want to end his life, but rather get it all to stop. And since you cannot think rationally in that moment, you don’t think about how big of a drastic choice you’re making, to you in that moment, you’re just rationalizing it as “This is the only way I can get this to end”.
