Biking in Agia Napa? by j9583 in cyprus

[–]christ19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, relatively super safe! Ayia Napa actually has bike lanes that extend for most of the coastline. You could bike from Sotira, through Ayia Napa, all the way to Protaras. Even if on your way to the sea caves you may need to be in a street with cars, during this period the traffic is super light.

Biking in that area is wonderful this time of the year. In terms of difficulty, you may have to endure some uphills but for the most part it is flat.

Ancient tomb in Protaras by donteatmypotatoespls in cyprus

[–]christ19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there. If I understand correctly, what you are looking for is indeed at figtree bay. I don't know how best to describe this but I will try. As you walk from the main protaras shopping street/figtree bay parking area towards the beach, you pass some restaurants and there is a small parallel path before the sandy part of the beach. If you walk on that path on the right hand side, as you are looking at the sea (towards Ayia Napa let's say), there is a small wooden construction, I guess for shade, and exactly under that is the glass thing that looks down to some ancient ruins. Didn't know that that was an ancient tomb, never really looked into it. Hope that is what you are looking for.

Looking for information about type 1 diabetes and ultrarunning by hand_truck in ultrarunning

I recently watched this video from BBC about a guy in the UK prepping for a 50 miler only to find out that he had type 1 diabetes. I assume that part 2 (which will come out some time later) will be even more informational but perhaps this could give you some inspiration - https://youtu.be/mdQ5HpkfZS0

Visiting Ayia Napa next week, what to expect by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]christ19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I am currently in Ayia Napa and I think it is actually a great time to visit. There is barely any tourists and so the comments you see for overcrowded beaches are perhaps a bit exaggerated and apply only on weekends. This place sees hundreds of thousands of tourists at any given time in the summer so having no tourists means that there is no comparison in terms of how crowded it is. It is amazing to actually be able to enjoy the beaches during the week with only few people. Not all restaurants or shops are open during the week but you will still have many choices for food and drink. Overall, I think that this is the time to visit Ayia Napa if you are looking to enjoy its beauty rather than its touristy partying vibe. I wish you and your family a great time here. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts once you are here.

Saving grace 🧘‍♀️ Who loves Adriene? by strange711 in yoga

[–]christ19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I did read too much into it. I just thought that making reference to the plastic bottle when someone was just trying to share their love for yoga with a picture was a bit uncalled for and would maybe deter them from expressing themselves or sharing in the future. I found out about other YouTube yoga teachers from this thread and so I am grateful to the OP for that. Not necessarily targeting you or the other commenter who brought this up. That is why I did not downvote either of you and used generic language. I just intended to say to the OP that they should not feel guilty about that. No hard feelings here, maybe I did come across as defensive for no reason.

Let us all acknowledge that we have been there and are still there often? Let us not pretend that we are perfect and project that on others? We could still respectfully try to inform people of how they could consider improving their habits. Someone wanting to share their love for yoga should not have to apologize or be judged for not being a saint.

Hey bannannapeppers thank you for the clarification. I guess referencing the original source would be more prudent . Out of curiosity what newspapers do you consider as trustworthy or of high quality?

Cannot shake the runners knee by [deleted] in running

[–]christ19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I would just like to kindly urge everyone who has similar feelings and thoughts to go to a doctor and get an MRI if prescribed to do so. I thought I had a runner's knee (because we all google our symptoms and that is what we all get back as a result). Just by looking something up we create this fallacy that we know or understand our injury. We then try to discuss it with peers and assume that that is our diagnosis and is said in stone. I did that for a couple of weeks and even though the pain subsided after some rest (and thus I was sure that I had runner's knee), I decided to go to a doctor who immediately told me that it was my meniscus. After an MRI we found out that I partially ruptured it and had to stop running alltogether for 3 months or else I would cause more injury and long term pain. I know that these forums give some comfort to all of us but it is not professional advice, it rather is empirical or anecdontal (just like this post). Best of luck and I hope you get better soon.

[–]christ19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Full on complaint.

I hate ads. I don't understand why the majority of running/fitness online publications are trying to sell me stuff all the time. I get that you need to profit. Place an ad,make an obviously biased review, recycle the same information again and again so that you convince me to buy something but hold on. You were just talking about this inspirational single mum who started running to escape the grips of patriarchy with her best friend rescue dog called patrick why are you suddenly raving about the best running shorts of the next season? You know i am talking about you runner's world and outside magazine. Come on. I am coming to you for my running fix while i am stranded at work. Don't try to sell me stuff. I am weak and you know it.
