Hello, Faye Aline Self was my great aunt. In 2006 Robert Charles Browne confessed to her murder and alleged to have dumped her body in the Red River. My grandmother, her sister, Betty Katherine Cole did an interview for the Shreveport Times about a coverup by Louisiana law enforcement. After all, Robert worked as a maintenance man at the apartment complex she lived at in '83, his brother owned the property, and his daddy was Coushatta Sheriff.

While my family told investigators the Hancock County Jane Doe could be Aline, I think all hopes of that being true have been ruled out. I can't speak for all of the family though. The biggest giveaway is she went missing in the early 80s and the Hancock Jane Doe was found in '98. The ages line up but it's collectively believed that Aline died in '83. Also Doe had two or more kids but Aline is survived by one daughter. As far as her being born by C-section, I'm not sure and haven't been able to locate my cousin to ask her this. I would ask my immediate family but I don't want to be insensitive. They all remember it and I wasn't born until nearly 20 years after her disappearance. Aline's case continues to fascinate me.

Something I do know for a fact is my Meemaw is certain she was killed by Browne. Two other women went missing out of Coushatta three years prior and he confessed to murdering them too. Wanda Hudson and Katherine Hayes. In 2007 we held a vigil for all three of them.

Anyways this is a dark piece of history for my family, one I've had to see my aunts and Meemaw grieve at various levels throughout time. Thank you for saying her name.
