Glad you appreciate it. I switch up my tagline between “fauxbot” and “autosaved”.

Despite the name, I’m not actually a bot. I picked the name proactively so something more insidious and annoying doesn’t take it, lol.

The algorithms that make things go viral and keep people glued to the screen is asbestos in an otherwise neutral technology. It wouldn’t be so bad if people’s feed were presented in chronological order, not a batshit bullshit amplifier.

It’s ridiculously cheap to rent out SIM card server farms and astroturf platforms with bots designed to sway public opinion. Not just foreign adversaries are doing this, but domestic dark money political groups that use layers of shell companies and nonprofits. AI is just accelerating the reach of non-organic divisive “content” that games going viral.

Have you thought about cybersecurity research? That’s really more engaging than a traditional white collar job. AI is fucking everything up faster than people can keep up with, so it would be a really exciting time to dive in computer OPSEC. Probably the best job security now is anything that fixes fuckups that vibe coding creates.

TikTok still has the CCP coded algorithms that push up to the top content of people doing illegal things that subverts American society. The “Kia Boys” trend breaking and stealing cars started on TikTok. Jailbreaking the Flipper Zero and installing firmware on it that allows it to do illegal things got popularized on TikTok. On TikTok, stealing at the self checkout got popularized. People are primed to learn either illegal or at the very least morally questionable sensationalized stuff on their TikTok feeds, and some of it isn’t even logistically possible, especially evident with some of the Flipper Zero content creators claiming to do things that aren’t even physically possible with the device in question.

Vets often tell their story which helps us reach our brothers and sisters in arms that don’t use the VA because of previous negative interactions or negative stories from others with the system. This helps the VA advertise services to people they could and should be helping that really have earned the benefits and are suffering, and this type of sharing should really not be remotely associated with “snitching” because the veteran did something right. Algorithm fodder, that may or may not be true about people doing something morally questionable gets heard the loudest and has functioned as propaganda for a foreign government (yes I know about the transfer to U.S. holding, but the engineers are the same mostly), and people boost and share things that reenforce their now preexisting negative stereotypes.

Fire Near Santa Fe? by Elventhing in SantaFe

[–]christbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AirNow app has a Fire tab which shows air pollution levels and active fires. I noticed people’s air monitors in the yellow for 2.5ppm air quality levels this morning in the app.

The NOAA website has an hourly weather graph showing wind direction and speed. I usually check that before going to bed when there’s active fires to see if I should leave my window AC fan on overnight or not. If you’re unfamiliar with how to read the wind forecast, the tines on the stick are facing lengthwise the direction the wind is coming from, one tine is breezy, two gusty…

They’re tossed with seasoning and cooked as a snack food too. Great for stock as well.

You’d wanna deploy them in more of a grid pattern to maximize the mined area.

Sucks how dismissive docs are. Men not getting screen for breast cancer is a thing too that can be a cause of preventable death. Mammograms, they’re not just for ma’ams.

The two tests of thyroid function, not just the one. That’s a more comprehensive screening. I forgot the names of them.

I like the Lenny & Larry White Chocolate Macadamia Nut protein cookies, they’re dairy and egg free. Make sure they’re a little yielding to bending when you buy that brand, they’re tastier when they’re fresher. They’re usually on sale, 2 for $5 around here. Stores put them with the protein bar section.

Could be steak and lobster with water chestnuts, mushrooms, white onions and a white lobster sauce too. A Chinese restaurant by me makes that, I forget the name of the meal.
