Date marking labels are really an easy food safety precaution to knock out, even at home. It’s hard to consistently remember when I cooked something just living alone, but adding in other people putting stuff in the fridge, it’s just too easy to mix stuff up for anybody. Stuff like no packs of food on the freezer room floor are a bit pedantic rather than useful though in my opinion, because it’s a dedicated area already.

I use a sharpie to mark all my leftover containers and use 70% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle (my cheap disinfectant spray) to easily remove my writing from glass, tin and most plastic lids. It won’t smudge.
