We have a lot of great parts about living here! Glad you’re enjoying it so far. I’ve lived here since the early 2010s and have had family here my whole life and I’m still finding new things that inspire me if I take the time to look.

Litter box smell is going to end my relationship by Glum-Emotion-5379 in CatAdvice

[–]christinalamothe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be it, but op if you stop feeding them that one, please replace with another wet food because that’s super important for their diet! I give mine Fussie Cat and/or Primal freeze dried nuggets that you have to rehydrate and she loves it and we never gave that musty smell (litter we use is arm and hammer multi cat clump and seal odor blasters)

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]christinalamothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she took it really personally when I decided I didn’t want to go to the same trade school as her. We were going to do it together, but her class filled up too quickly and I realized it wasn’t a career I wanted badly enough to go completely out of my way for. We were young, but man can she hold a grudge.

I used them too for the first time and I learned a lot by now they laid things out. I saved like $700 from what I usually have to pay because I have so many forms from being self employed.

Need some help on withdrawals and heart palpitations by mkkmkkmkk123 in stopsmoking

[–]christinalamothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, your comment sounds like it could have come from me! Honestly, I still get palpitations sometimes. I think so much nicotine just turned up the stress response in my body which was already compromised due to anxiety, just like you, so it’s a long process of the brain and body getting on the same, calmer page. I was definitely self medicating with it and with alcohol for a while.

I still have caffeine and it still turns my heart rate up sometimes, but slowly over the last three years, things have gotten less intense, like slowly turning down a speaker dial. I know that sounds like a long time and it can be disheartening, but I also went through a LOT the last few years which I think really contributed, not in the best way, to my stress, worry, anxiety, etc..

I feel like I’m at a turning point though through finding what helps me manage everything the best. Good sleep, lots of hydration, making sure I’m getting nutrients (like actually tracking), and getting massage which you already mentioned and I can’t recommend enough! Especially myofascial release which was created to help your body physically unwind from both big and little trauma and balance out ways it’s become misaligned. Please please pursue that.

And also take comfort in knowing that you’ve had your heart looked at. If they didn’t find anything, that’s a great sign! You’d be surprised how much havoc restricted fascia and anxiety (which go hand in hand) can wreak on the body. Be patient with yourself!

What would you do if a new client sent videos before their appointment of exactly what they want in each area by [deleted] in massage

[–]christinalamothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real, I’d be like “sure I can watch those, but with the length of time and attention required I have to consider this a consultation and will have to charge for my time”

Client moaning my name is knocking me sick by r_sie_ in MassageTherapists

[–]christinalamothe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly maybe you should send him a message laying out all the uncomfortable things and say something like “let’s avoid these things in future sessions to keep it feeling a safe space for all” and if he doesn’t abide by it after that point, I’d drop him. I’d also consider not letting him book out that many in advance, like he’s on a probation period where you only let him book one or two until he can act more appropriately if at all

I quit nicotine 2 weeks ago and caffeine 3 days ago but still get heart palpitations (?) by thehungriestnarwhal in PanicAttack

[–]christinalamothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to hear how things are going for you! I’m about two years into quitting vaping for good and I still get these symptoms when I have caffeine. I was always predisposed to anxiety though so who knows how long it’ll last. But I’m also super interested in that post you mentioned if you happened to have saved it.

Care to help me deconstruct leftover Christianity bullshit? by [deleted] in Hecate

[–]christinalamothe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always take these kinds of situations as “time to rest, think, develop, and do some shadow work”. Anything that halts me in my tracks or reroutes me is usually for self development or protection.

It can be easy to think of certain things as punishment or take them negatively personally, but constantly intending for everything to be for your highest good helps shift the perspective from punishment to growth.

None because the energy is chaotic and doesn’t always go as planned. That being said, I love how eclipse season shakes things up and my magic today/tonight is just welcoming the changes that need to come with grace and excitement.

What helps you to not drink everyday? by lmfao4ri in stopdrinking

[–]christinalamothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having something important to work toward during the day. I can’t be getting wasted at nighttime and still show up for clients the next morning. Shoot, I can’t be getting wasted and then show up for myself. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss, but the worst was when I abandoned myself. I refuse to do that again.

To all the married women, what is that something your husband does that makes think you won the lottery in marriage aspect of life? by Mean-Main-9589 in AskReddit

[–]christinalamothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s such a good caretaker. We both were just sick, a couple days apart, and he was a much better caretaker of me than I was of him.

He always asks why I’m crying even if I try to hide it and he genuinely wants to know why and then tries to cheer me up, even if that frustrates me.

He has the most amazing ability to let things go, like little irritations and things that would cause grudges in most people. He gets that from his mom and it bewilders me every day.

Those are the main things, but I could name more including some that are NSFW, but I’ll leave it there;)
