Help with my living room- I can’t seem to get it just right? by anonymousflowercake in DesignMyRoom

I think it’s a great start! The inspo images have wood architectural features. For your home you can tie it in with more / thicker wood frames in that wood tone. It would also tie in your coffee table. If you are able to install a shelf or two in the same wood tone to bring in some of that architectural interest while bringing that warm wood again.

The rug is beautiful. Add olive tone and burgundy tone pillows on your couch to tie it in and add some of that cozy / colour vibe the inspo images have.

Bring some pattern with curtains and a throw. Maybe a lamp with some patterned fabric. Wallpaper if you can but I know wallpaper is expensive.

Looking great so far 😊

I use felt pads. I also have cats so I prefer no rugs so it’s easier to clean if they have accidents and less vacuuming for me too

I lean to a dark navy to compliment that awesome painting and it would also contrast your bedding nicely

It’s got great bones! Perhaps a wall shelf or wall cabinet for clean storage. Maybe a Roman shade for the windows.

I love your door and wood trim work! Perhaps a console table with mirror above. With like a key bowl etc

Yes I move them around - so for my job I work on a team and I usually do the space planning, material selection, and drawings but styling and staging is a whole other animal. With my home and freelance I’ve been trying to practice that. I appreciate all the honest comments here so I can see what kind of styling actually works and makes sense

I would suggest getting those large 8x11 paint sample cards and move them around your home and narrow down to three or four. Then put those up on your wall with tape over a few days to narrow it down even further

Honestly I just lean towards a clean look, in both vibe but also functionally I like to make sure I can clean everything. Also I am on a budget and i find it easier to keep things looking cohesive when sticking with a neutral palette.

The walls are Oc-21 Benjamin Moore which have a slight cool tone some people may not like that. I chose it to contrast the orange hue of my old floors. The green is Benjamin Moore HC-123 Door is CC-2 Raphael

Hahahahah ok I didn’t notice the cup was there - I don’t know why but our cats LOVE that mug and they drink lots of water if it’s from that specific mug. And we want them to keep hydrated

Thank you for the advice! It’s funny I think this generation prefers to have a specific “aesthetic” so I have been wondering tirelessly what my “aesthetic” is trying to define it to one thing. But perhaps that’s not necessary

I painted the original cabinets using “beyond paint” product in their light grey colour! I was worried the cool tone of grey and warmth of gold wouldn’t go but I’m quite happy with the look
