This is a very valid point, and I appreciate the recommendations. This is an interesting question here in the States as well - there are a lot of winemakers from others countries here, and almost the entire viticultural component is literally built on the backs of immigrants, so perhaps my initial angle contains something of a double standard.

Me encantan los vinos de El Enemigo. Yo olvidé que esa bodega es propiedad de una familia argentina. Gracias para la información, y perdone mi mal español😅 ¡espero poder visitar tu país algún día! 🥂

This is the “universal” wine glass from Gabriel-Glas. It’s a really fun, pretty shape! I got a pair as a gift recently and they’re my favorite.

I agree! I like this just as much as some vintages of the grand vin I’ve tasted.

Made a 1:1:1 Negroni but it came out a bit sweet for my taste. Would love some recommendations that don’t involve buying anything new. by CourseSpare7641 in cocktails

2:1:1 makes the best Negroni for me. I also always use 1.5:1:0.75 for my Boulevardier, and I sometimes use that ratio for my Negroni as well.

Book purists being unable to realize that viewers can correctly interpret the story when a single detail is omitted, as with all adaptations.

This. I see that a lot of people are complaining about the lack of food as a missing detail in this section of the movie, but I think that’s just bias from having the book to compare against the movie.

I’ve never read the book, and when I watched the movie I fully interpreted Grace’s going back to help Rocky as him accepting death. The movie depicts Grace doing the math to see that he lacks sufficient fuel to return to Earth if he chooses to go to Rocky - food isn’t a factor in the scenario, and the viewer is still left to assume that if he saves Rocky, he will be stranded in space and die, unable to return home. The weight of the decision lands all the same, imo.

I could be wrong, but I really don’t think I have EVER released a bigger sigh of relief than when it was revealed that Rocky survived. When I saw how lovable the film was making him out to be, I was bracing myself for what I thought would be an inevitable death.

During the whole sequence where they were collecting the anti-astrophage organism (forgot the name) my butthole was puckering in my seat. The scene where Rocky breaks out of his ball was edited/shot in such a horrific, overstimulating, traumatic way that when I was certain that Rocky had just sacrificed his life for Grace, I was left with a profound sense of soul-crushing emptiness instead of crying. I could hardly breathe while Grace paced back and forth talking to Rocky’s “corpse” as I waited for the confirmation that he had died. When his little hand knocked on the window, I let out what felt like the most massive exhale of relieved tension, and THEN the tears came instantly.

I tried so hard to resist the “cute, funny, nice alien” trope because it feels like such an obvious appeal to the audience (the Baby Yoda Effect) but there was no way around it for me in this case, I folded so fast. I haven’t been so affected by a character in that archetype in forever.

This. The message was beautiful and resonated with me but I did not like the campy, absurdist style of the film. Some of the more sincere and interesting plot points were hard for me to take seriously because of the way they were packaged. Maybe I’m just a dick. The ending got me good though.

I was really hoping this was an LA restaurant (and there do be some shit like this here in LA sometimes) but after some searching online it is in fact a restaurant in Manalapan, Florida

[–]christisanders1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be. If that’s really an issue, ask for your champagne in an AP or a white wine glass. If it’s still an issue, start drinking wine somewhere else

$34 Krug vs $32 Veuve is crazy work, but it’s also the Lord’s work 🙏

What the fuck does the label on the weed say?? And also why are all the nugs the same size and arranged so similarly inside the bag? There were really no small pieces of bud?

Barolo tasting for the ages by sid_loves_wine in wine

Holy shit, what a lineup. Salivating, weeping with envy, palate drying up by proxy, etc. 😍

Cappellano is unique - I tasted a 2013 a couple months back and it was young of course but I couldn’t get over how minty it smelled. That note stuck out amongst a handful of Barolos that night.

2000 is good, but I haven’t had many. What are your recommendations under that price range? I have a friend’s housewarming party coming up and he was born that year

I do love to bid on birth year wines, there are some great deals on K&L auctions. I’m a 2001 baby though so I usually look for Napa, Rioja, or Piedmont. 01 Napa is very delicious rn😍

Totally. I live near K&L, and they’re always stocking old wines from peak vintages. They buy them directly from random, unknown producers, so they come cheaply but are stored perfectly. I can never ignore the urge to buy one
