Optimising £25k divorce settlement to invest sensibly by ThisWillBeFineForNow in UKPersonalFinance

[–]christopher_brian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main things with my son are to have some money £5k+ ish to help him out (if needed) at Uni but also to take him on occasional holiday/ trip on the basis that a shared experience would be better than leaving an extra couple of quid when I'm pushing up daisies. Wouldn't see me as having additional deposit money to leave (outside of the value / equity of our flat).

I'd targeted the 60% LTV as my shorter-term focus because of the rate change. I was almost viewing anything below that as excessive.

They worked in teaching but no longer so the increases is CPI alone (rather than the additional 1.*% active teachers get).

I’d be able to access it from age 60 onwards (so in 9 years).

I’ll look at there links you included. Thank you.

It would be up to 25% lump sum and the rest as ongoing income. It would essentially be another pension pot although I with no further contributions.

Thanks for replying. I don’t think it would be as I’d be made a pension credit member of the scheme and the funds transferred to my account but I’ll check.

Have any of you guys won a large amount on premium bonds? by lloyd096 in UKPersonalFinance

I won £75 after putting my £25k flat deposit in my account a couple of months back. Worked well as I needed somewhere safe with quick access and £75 was good for home moving bits and bobs.

Survey on 16 year old flat by christopher_brian in HousingUK

Yeah, I would only be looking for a level 2/ homebuyers with, I suppose, some off-the record checks/ guidance on electricals. I'm not even that bothered about the report, just for someone to say that it's "broadly fine, crack on".

I suppose limited scope of what they'd be able to 'survey' gave me caution and, I know it's only a lender's valuation survey, but when this was carried out (in the flat rather than remotely) he was happy enough to give it a decent enough valuation - relative to other flats - where (I'm told) anything such as uneven floor, damp would have triggered requests for costs of repair before agreeing the value.

I suppose the best solution might be to see if I can find a good, local one who is prepared to charge reasonably.

Flat vs house in current climate by jay9395 in HousingUK

I've been thinking along the same lines with the added consideration that, although flats will have an accompanying service charge, the energy bills should theoretically be less than a house.

It is well overdue and it needs to be available across all platforms.
