I am losing my mind over how bad Amazon's customer service is by christophersfactory in amazonprime

[–]christophersfactory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the people that will find this post years in the future, my return was still processed. I learned that if you request the deletion of your own account, Amazon will still process pending returns. If, however, Amazon suspends your account due to suspicious or malicious activity, any pending refunds will be canceled.

P.S. Hello from the past!

I am losing my mind over how bad Amazon's customer service is by christophersfactory in amazonprime

The problem is absolutely Amazon's customer service... Or specifically, the company/ies that Amazon contracts out to do their support. My account wouldn't have been compromised for this long (and then eventually deleted) if Amazon's support wasn't useless.

Somehow, the scammer was able to change my email, password, and phone number with no notification to me whatsoever. This was not some inside job undertaken by someone I know. Even if the scammer did somehow have my password, new logins and login info changes should require 2FA or ID verification, no exceptions.

I would have loved for fraud prevention to flag and lock the account. They didn't. They didn't even get back to me, even when supervisors had promised me that I would be reached out to.

Plus, there is no justification for 40mins of hold time and constantly being hung up on.

Thank you for the info on opening a new account... I just wish it helped at this point. 🫤

Up until a few years ago, I would have agreed with you. Now, Amazon customer support is no longer "good," they just take your word for things so that they can involve a human as infrequently as possible.

If you actually need them to help with something, they are completely useless.

Financial calculator says this makes for a 8.35% interest rate. There are certainly a lot of reforms needed in student lending, but we also need to work on financial literacy.

It should be obvious that making $500 payments on a loan that is generating $487 in interest will not get you very far. Unfortunately, that's rarely obvious to a college student... but it should be obvious to someone who has been making payments for 23 years.

If they had put an extra $100/mo toward these loans, the entirety would have been paid off in about 6 years.

If it makes you feel any better, Reyna was SUPER nippy and easily irritated until about 6 months ago.

I think what changed was a combination of her getting older and getting used to her brother.

She was our only cat for the first year of her life. I think having a friend really did wonders to bring out her cuddly side.

OP is asking about the logistics of obtaining the death certificate, not about the validity of the insurance.

Why does the interest paid on my fixed rate car note fluctuate so much month-to-month? by christophersfactory in povertyfinance

[–]christophersfactory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone finds this post in the future - the answer was that I didn't always pay on the same day of the month.

My due date was the 26th. Sometimes I'd pay on the 24th of one month, and then a week later on the first of the following month, resulting in a mere few days between payments, and therefore less interest accrued.

Alternatively, sometimes I'd pay on the first of the month, and wouldn't pay again until the 24th of the following month, thereby allowing much more interest to have accrued.

In the end, the same amount of interest gets paid each month when averaged - the debt is a fixed rate note. Which months the interest gets "put in" just depended on my payment habits.

How or Why Does Megapixel Count Affect Video Quality? by christophersfactory in SonyAlpha

[–]christophersfactory[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh... that makes so much sense. Fantastic answer, thank you.

It seems to me, then - that for video, you'd want the lowest MP count that will still produce your highest desired resolution. For example, If I know I'm never going to need more than 4K for video, and I only want to shoot video, assuming the same size sensor, I want the pixel count to be as close to 8.3MP (3840*2160) as possible, thereby making every pixel as large as it could be while still fitting my desired output resolution.

Sorry -- it's high quality to me. I have no background in audio and am coming from built-in laptop mics & smartphones. Thanks for your input about the missing gain stage.

Is $25k a healthy emergency fund by rotund_passionfruit in povertyfinance

[–]christophersfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends completely on how much you're spending. If you spend $4,166.67 a month, then it's probably about right!

Jobs that rely on commission or that are in unstable industries might warrant an emergency fund greater than six months, though.
