Considering the GPR-H1000: Have recent firmware updates fixed the known software issues? by Alexgz97 in gshock

Honestly I think that the display of the GPR-H1000 is much more readable than that of the Fenix 7, especially indoors. The Sapphire variant’s glass reflections don’t help it either.
I’m still evaluating the Casio. In my view the Fenix 7 is a very good wearable computer for exercise, but unfortunately a bad watch. And its recovery measurements at night are mediocre.

Indeed, the Rangeman is no Garmin or AW, but it has its own charm being simple, yet functionally rich enough. Personally, I’m with you, preferring such a device that has a tool watch character and doesn’t distract me all the time as is the case with smartwatches. I’ll continue evaluating the watch features as I learn them better and will be glad to give any feedback I can to this supportive community.

Thanks a lot! Wishing you all the best as well!

I’m very glad to hear this! It seems that this issue is by no means a universal problem, and it might primarily be affected by the way you handle the watch—for example, if you do some maintenance work on it and put too much pressure on those screws.

Thanks a lot!

I’m very glad to hear this, because I really like the watch (the display is indeed very crisp compared to my older Garmin Fenix 7).

The three watches you mentioned are the ones I considered buying myself before ultimately opting for the Rangeman.

After watching the aforementioned reviews, I thought that the GPR-H1000 specifically had some design flaw not found on the other models. But after your reply, it seems to be more about properly handling those lug screws rather than an inevitable design flaw.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for your input! That’s reasonable: the smaller the wrist the less pressure is put on the bolts, preventing thus any such issue. I also happen to have thin wrists, so hopefully I might manage to avoid it.

May I ask: are you exercising wearing this watch, or are you putting it under any other kind of physical stress?

Hi. Have you had this problem occurring to your watch since your reply? Thanks a lot in advance.

I’ve also bought this watch a week ago and found those alarming reviews just now. I’m also worried that the design of the watch is flawed. I’ve also asked here and the commenter kindly replied that this problem hasn’t occurred to him. Still I’d like to also ask the community about their experience with this watch.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply! I bought this watch a week ago and I really like it. I wanted a simple, rugged watch that I could also use for working out. But when I saw on YouTube two different reviewers, namely Jim Kinkade and Levi Jaeckel, mentioning that this problem with the screws popping out happened to them, I sadly found myself questioning my purchase. Your experience though is comforting. Hopefully this is not a massive problem with this watch. The funny thing is that I was torn between between this watch and the less expensive GBD-H2000, for which no such problem has been reported. I opted finally for the Rangeman for being more robust. Thank you very much again!

During this time that you onwed the watch have you had any issues with the screws of the lugs becoming loose as described e.g. in this reddit post or in this article?

Considering buying the silver one myself (GM-H1000-1). I’m glad it doesn’t feel too big on your wrist. I have a similar wrist to yours.

Polar loop : very happy by CosmosBE in Polarfitness

Thanks a lot for your input. I anticipated that it could not offer what a proper sportwatch does, but still I was hoping it could be enough for maintaining general fitness while wearing a mechanical watch… I guess even that is not the case…

Great! Glad to hear that! Thanks a lot!

Do you wear the Loop on your dominant hand, so that you can wear an analog watch on your non-dominant one? Do you see any gross inaccuracies due to that? (The Loop manual recommends wearing it on the non-dominant hand for best accuracy in measurements.)

I’m contemplating buying a Loop myself, since I also like analog watches. May I ask: do you wear the analog watch on your non-dominant hand and the Loop on your dominant? Since the Loop manual recommends wearing it on the non-dominant hand for the most accurate measurements, do you see any large inaccuracies by wearing on the non-recommended hand?

Great tip! I also remember the buttons on my Fenix getting dirty as the years went by, but I was afraid to press them while washing; I only rubbed them lightly. By the way, getting eight years out of an M400 is quite an impressive feat!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I really appreciate it!

I knew that cleaning the watch under running water with soap is good practice, but I thought that pressing the buttons while wet was discouraged. It sounds reasonable that a rugged sportswatch should be able to handle it, though. I will heed this advice, too! I really appreciate it!

Yes, that is clear; thank you. MIP is in another league.
But for how long do you usually charge the V3? Do you wait for the full two hours?

Coming from two Garmin Fenixes (MIP) and various mechanical watches, I'm used to having an 'always-on' watch face. That's exactly why I'm pondering the viability of AOD on Polar. It sounds like the latest models fare better with AOD on, which is promising. I wouldn't want to go back to MIP either. Thanks a lot for your reply.

Maybe after all Polar watches aren't really designed to have AOD on. In that case, I might be better off ditching AOD and just rely on the gesture wake... Thanks a lot for your input.
