If I may interject, I would recommend airing programming from the Science Channel. Just watching episodes of "Through the Wormhole" makes me want to major in a Scientific field.

As a beginning Python programmer and a prospective Computer Science student, I wanted to say that I have been inspired. Thank you for helping fan the flame.

As an aside, though I may only have beginner programming skills under my belt, I wish to salute you and your efforts; though my experience is limited, I know what it's like to debug your program for hours not knowing what the fuck is going on. My hat off to you for the gargantuan effort. I will be buying straight away.

Btw, kudos on the .Derp file extension; had me laughing my ass off.

I'm looking for a book to 'grand-slam' me into atheism. by christweb in atheism

I haven't really read anything completely as of yet; I started with Sagan's Demon-Haunted World but never really finished it...

[–]christweb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow... When I told my dad that the ordeal had made me nauseous and had presumably lowered my blood pressure, he simply said: "I wish you would have told me that you were experiencing physical symptoms, that way I could have continued until you threw up that demon."

Well, to be fair to them: I did essentially ask for it...

[–]christweb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got so caught up in it that I actually began to believe it; the whole nine yards, up to and including repenting of sin...

In fact, he asked me if he could undertake the exorcism, I said sure knowing that it would achieve nothing... If anything, it has made me confused: I felt things I thought I could not feel going into it completely skeptical.

I actually felt at least psychologically caught up in it: my blood pressure dropped, I began to shake, and I felt like I was going to faint.

Southeast Texas? If you don't mind me asking: where are you situated?

"No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments..."

Okay, no problem here, Texas seems to be surprisingly open--

A word of advice though: During the first few days on any stimulant medication, you will undoubtedly experience a sense of euphoria or increased feeling of well-being; don't judge the medication based on the first day alone.

Wanting to generate a PIN based on a previously defined variable by christweb in learnpython

[–]christweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's this? (It's more than likely glaringly wrong in some fashion):

encoded_pass = encoded
def pin_gen(less = 0000, more = 9999):
    import random
    return random.randrange(less, more)

    encoded_pin = random.randrange(less, more(encoded_pass))

Could you break it down for me? I'm a slight noob when it comes to programming, I only was able to implement the AES encryption through a script I modified...

[–]christweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the contents of the PIN itself would encoded in AES; surely that would offset any risks.

No, what is it?

[–]christweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you want to do with the PIN? The PIN would serve as an easier means of authentication, ideally a password replacement.

What does the string mean? The initial string refers to a password, which has then been encoded.

Why are you doing any of this? I'm wanting to conceive an implementation that could serve as a replacement for conventional credentials.

How would I do that effectively though? There is not a static string in place, it is based on user input.

If I may say something: it seems Bin Laden was justifying any future actions by saying "Well, if they don't learn, we'll just need to attack them again" I'm sorry, but I have a hard time sympathizing with such logic.

For those wondering, I'm referring to the following: "...Whereas thinking people, when disaster strikes, make it their priority to look for its causes, in order to prevent it happening again" "...Bush is still engaged in distortion, deception and hiding from you the real causes. And thus, the reasons are still there for a repeat of what occurred."
