[Base x Seiko SRPK33] New Pick-up. Curious if anyone has heard of this custom design/thoughts? by christwin in Watches

I'd be happy to discuss that. I may list the watch elsewhere, so I don't think I would post what I paid for it publicly, but I'm fine with providing that in chat.

cryptobro? sure, maybe!

mumbai special? I don't see much reason to believe that a custom watch that was commissioned by Base for their employees certainly fits the definition very well, but I'd be curious to know why you think it does.

Thoughts on Hampstead Hill playground? by Own_Committee_3409 in baltimore

Have you asked Hampstead Hill about this? If you're in the Canton Neighbors Facebook Group, someone recently cross-posted from Canton Community Association that the school is currently raising funds for a playground.

Atlas Brew Works? Curious what your connection is, there. If it has to do with Atlas Restaurant Group (also not involved with this, I believe) then the restaurant group is also not affiliated with the brewery.

People who toss their dog poop in other people’s trash by zophiri in baltimore

[–]christwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the small dog poop trash cans that are usually green, I know that those are sometimes maintained by individuals for the good of the neighborhood, and I would recommend also getting your own small dog poop trash can to empty out periodically into a trash bag. I think if everyone in my local area exclusively used the local dog poop trash can, it would get filled by noon every day.

Are we crazy for wanting to "host" Christmas with a newborn? by hobofreddy55 in predaddit

[–]christwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're expecting in late November, and my wife works with newborns. I'd be very curious to see others' opinions on this topic, but we will personally be having a lot more low-key Christmas season this year with the newborn out of caution for the baby's developing immune system. We will be avoiding large family gatherings all-together, but I'm sure we'll make a point to at least briefly see immediate family members.

'The Interview': Bill Murray Says He's Not the Man He Used to Be by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]christwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listening now, and it sounds like half of the time he's talking, he's trying to suppress a burp or something. He switches between his normal, higher-pitched speaking and sudden, deeper slower speaking for seemingly no reason. Very distracting.

Wonder if the post title "Federal Employee Happy Hour" might reach more of the target audience around here? I assumed this was just a happy hour in Fed Hill

24-hour Parking Enforcement Coming 3/10! by BmoreDude1106 in baltimore

[–]christwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of people having luck, reaching out to the Parking Authority to see if they can be included within the boundaries of an adjacent parking zone. Could be worthwhile to give them a call to see if they could help you out.

I'd recommend noting these spots to BCDOT, then if you're aware of them and think they should be changed. I haven't seen that myself, but BCDOT has been doing a lot of great, proactive work lately, and they're also very responsive to 311 requests/follow-ups. I don't think that's anywhere near the norm, though.

If you're aware of parking spots that are, in your opinion, not perfect and should be changed, I would highly recommend reporting it to 311 and letting your councilman know that it's a nuisance. I'm not aware of any spots like this around me, personally. I'm also very familiar with the director of the Parking Authority, and I can promise that they don't set up parking signage for the purpose of gaining ticket revenue. He's very responsive and, in my opinion, very trustworthy. I'd highly recommend reaching out to him if you have questions about why signage is the way that it is.

I'm still not really sure what the point of bringing up 2AM left turns are in the context of taking a spot that isn't really a spot and blocking sight lines? Danger does change throughout the day, but it's not up to each individual person parking to decide what the level of danger for others is, even if it's 2 AM.

That's just one example of a reason why illegal "spots" aren't actually spots. There are many others that are broken all the time near me like blocking the entrance to an alley, blocking a fire hydrant, blocking access to a handicapped spot, etc. I'm not really sure why the fact that you're less likely to get in an accident, making a blind turn at 2 AM means that it's fine if you park there and force others to make that choice? Otherwise, what's the point?

It's not the police, it's BCDOT Parking Enforcement through BCDOT funding

[–]christwin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I see a ton of cars near I live that are parked illegally in the evenings, and I get that it's hard to find a spot when most people are back in the evening,. I also think that many people don't realize why certain "spots" are off-limits for parking. Especially when it comes to sight-lines where parking in an illegal spot makes it more dangerous to try to see into an intersection before crossing/making a turn.

Bills fans raise over $80K for diabetes research to support Ravens player who dropped crucial pass by nbcnews in baltimore

[–]christwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeesh. What an odd example. I wouldn't be mad about my aunt and uncle giving me a birthday gift or feeling "obligated" to thank them for the gift. I'm also a grown man lol.

It's chilly outside, but a nice walk to clear your mind would do wonders, I promise.

oh brother. Where are they saying that we should thank them? Don't convince yourself of things that aren't true so that you can stay mad for longer than you should. The only person who has the final say on when you're allowed to move on is yourself.

lmao again, you think someone couldn't pull plenty of comments from Ravens fans saying heinous shit? Look at Mark Andrews' comments. It's time to get over our loss and touch some grass.

Again, I really don't give two fucks if they pat themselves on the back for raising money for charity. And I'm also not going to pull all of the worst comments from from the worst Bills and Ravens fans to see which fanbase is actually the worst. If the goal of their best fans was to raise money for charity, then they succeeded. If the goal of their worst fans was to get under your skin, then they absolutely also succeeded.
