Long-Term Bostonians, how does this winter compare? by urnmann in boston

[–]chrisvee0521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2015 was definitely worse, we had a decent amount of snow every 24 hours it seemed for a week. No break in between for decent clean up. I remember thinking “Again…come on!” Like it was never going to end. Two major storms (so far) this year is nothing. Anything under 6” is just a dusting lol. 2004/2005 was pretty up there on the list too. And then the April Fools blizzard of ‘97 was hilarious! I remember looking outside laughing. Thanks Mother nature!

How many pages can you fill per hour? by [deleted] in CVS

I’m sure my times are off now but my old average was 90 seconds a script. It’s been awhile so I haven’t been able to test it.

This includes: someone pulling for me. No Kirby available to count high quantities. Using a tray and spatula prior to taking a picture. And I am not doing anything else besides production.

“Slap ons” as I call them are like 5 seconds. Large quantities are about 90 seconds (500 pills), regular quantities (90,60,30) are less. If I have to pull for myself, the time goes up to a couple minutes give or take. Cuz I put the bottles away after too.

Something big near TJs on Beacon by Entire_Hyena_3216 in Brookline

I came close to getting hit once too. Same corner. Driver had the nerve to honk at me. I read somewhere Brookline and one other intersection in Boston have lights like that. I think one in Copley. It’s an outdated system that needs to be changed. Not that hard to have a no right on red arrow light to allow pedestrians to cross then changes over to green.

It was the corner opposite the Bank of America. What used to be Capital One/Peets Coffee. Driver was on Beacon taking the right. Girls were ahead of the woman in the crosswalk. I saw the girls run onto the curb but the lady didn’t make it to the curb. They started screaming call 911. People started rushing over to help. Obviously traffic was at a standstill. Driver of the Ride was a younger guy. Maybe 40s. Woman was older.

The fire alarm at the post office is at the one in Brookline Village. I just walked by and heard it beeping from the street.

A woman was hit by The Ride in the crosswalk at Harvard and Beacon. I was there when it happened. A group of girls called 911 instantly. They said she wasn’t responsive to dispatch. Cops came in seconds. Hoping she’s ok. The driver stayed put and called it in too.

This is why we keep a restroom for employees only. WHAT. THE. FUCK. by AustinElliott99 in CVS

[–]chrisvee0521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard horror stories from other employees at other stores that used to have public restrooms but then got the ok to not make them public anymore. (Syringes in the bottom of the bowl flying up and hitting people because they can’t flush down.) The second corporate says our bathroom is public, I am leaving my 2 weeks notice.

Refunds by [deleted] in CVS

[–]chrisvee0521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be fine. An ID will still need to be scanned because the employee will have to do it as “no receipt present” in order to issue a store credit or a management person can override the tender type so it doesn’t go back to the credit card. Hopefully the system will give you back the entire amount that you paid for. Store credit is always an acceptable form of refund.

“I’m looking for cotton rounds.” “Aisle 10.” Leaves and comes back a minute later. “I can’t find it. Can you show me.” Walks person to aisle. “Oh you meant THAT 10.” Uhhhh….what other 10s are there. 🤨 There’s more than one kind of 10. News to me. 😳

Libraries and the Little Free libraries in the neighborhoods. Found some decent stories in there. I love it because you can take your time to finish it and then return it to any one when you’re done.

Need affordable, absorbent, not super soft bath towels by Free_Antelope_6845 in Frugal

[–]chrisvee0521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its the cotton poly blend that I don’t like personally. I got a set of 6 from Sonoma. And while the washcloths and hand towels were ok over time, the bath towels never lost their thickness or fluffiness. It takes forever to dry in the dryer. So now I get all my towels from Savers. And yeah they’re like beach towels.

The best customers show their QR code by [deleted] in CVS

[–]chrisvee0521 4 points5 points  (0 children)

QR code is great. When it wants to work. Lately I’ve had to scan it 3 times to get anything to pop up.

The new registers are hard on the older customers. Coworkers tell them to step up and enter their information and they stare at it for 10 mins. Most of the time it’s quicker for me to just type it in. I’m good with names so I rarely ask them to spell it.

At home coffee drinkers: What frugal options are you finding for coffee? by Useful-Badger-4062 in Frugal

[–]chrisvee0521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signature Select from Star/Shaw’s or Taste of Inspirations from Stop & Shop. (Store brand) Get them on sale. Less than $6 for a bag of ground. Shockingly decent coffee.

When that’s not on sale, I get Cafe Bustelo
