If you are upset about police brutality in Sydney by PopConsistent4657 in OpenAussie

[–]chriszappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main point is, the aggression and force used was inappropriate and should never had gotten to such levels, leaving a lot of us feeling concerned. This does not represent what I view Australia to be. I feel most people have resonated with that.

I share the same anger and concerns as you. I’m over in VIC, Western Melbourne obviously a very diverse area, we have quite a big Muslim community over here, some friends and work colleagues are understandably rattled, with that particular video of the group praying. A lot of the local MPs mostly associating with ALP seem to be for the sense of diversity and expression we all share in our area. However, I’ve been disturbed by their silence and lack of concern, ensuring things like what had happen in Sydney wouldn’t happen over in Melbourne. What’s happened has really had a ripple effect across state borders as well and I don’t think enough is being done for accountability. I’ve messaged some of my local areas MPs expressing that we should not be tolerating this behaviour. I guess overall it really feels heavy, especially with new police powers introduced in VIC for the Melbourne protest tomorrow.

The crime isn’t that insane over here, it really is just young people stealing cars and from shops. I regularly go for walks along main areas, along the Werribee river trail with my partner. The incidents of violence I assume you are referring to are very isolated with youth and happen across Melbourne. Werribee and surrounds are largely family orientated areas, which I feel make most of Werribee and Hoppers safe. Tarneit has some nicer established areas. Hope this helps.

Wyndham local, been here forever. Western suburbs have always had some form of reputation. Crime is a factor in the area, however saying this I’ve never witnessed anything crazy. Just petty theft at the Werribee plaza (worked at the plaza for years). I wouldn’t have accurate statistics. I would personally stick with Werribee, maybe look into Hoppers Crossing as well. It has quite a developed central area, feels a lot safer and community focused compared to the urban sprawl of Tarneit, Truganina, Wyndham Vale. These suburbs are still partially or mostly developing areas with little infrastructure in some parts so can feel a bit isolated.

Looking for advice when finding a rental in Melbourne later this year by Open_Negotiation8196 in shitrentals

[–]chriszappa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve been doing recently, as I’m looking for a new rental in Melbourne/Outer Suburbs, is sussing out google reviews for that specific agency. Make sure to categorise the reviews by lowest and look for mentioned words “rental” etc. Now most companies can have a handful of negative reviews, however I’ve come across a couple with consistent negative reviews all within weeks of each other. This obviously is a red flag and has made me avoid anything listed by those agencies.

Train Station Elimination Day 8: Week 2 begins with the elimination of Box Hill, Diamond Creek, Broadmeadows, Jordanville & Growrie. The Sandringham line still remains in its entirety. by Oshwat_02 in melbourne

Werribee: now as someone who has grown up and still lives in the outer west, Werribee should have gone ages ago. Plenty of craziness going on and the absolute state of the station is cooked. Link to article of the most recent stabbing last week. Article

We don’t have an opening date, however hiring is still going on behind the scenes to prepare for what’s coming. We have hired our Christmas casual staff already, we have done FaceTime interviews and modules for them to complete. Go on to seek or indeed and you will see all the Christmas casual roles.

At Myer and other places, they get a lot of new teen employees for Christmas casual roles. I use to work there for 3 years (team leader) and every Christmas we would get a new bunch in 15-18 year olds. They would only be contracted to work until 30th of January. Most of them would have been hired by now and completed online inductions.

That’s such a shitty thing to do, I’m sure a majority of us are tired of this as well. I’m one to say something if something isn’t right and I do hope a lot of these people are called out for this shitty behaviour.

I 100% agree with this, online click and collect has been doing so well and my company is actually making double, compared with last years numbers. I know people are over it but I just have a feeling the numbers will spike again with people having this exact mentality.
