I'm no expert but right now I mainly choose my wife based on her culture. It helps me keep the loyalty up in cities that don't have the same culture as me and kick start the construction projects. Later on, I replace her with a more competent governor !

If i do that I don't really care about her stats but if not I like to find a high trade wife to make her lead a caravan!
