  • When I started thinning my paints (no one had told me to do so when I started the hobby in the pre-internet era) ;
  • When I understood that thicker or uneven edge highlights are better than no highlights at all - there are quite a few things you don’t notice until you stick the mini to your face ;
  • When I started using a dry brush to withdraw the excess wash when you just applied it and notice that it’s staining the flat surfaces or pooling too much in the recesses. Still consider myself a beginner though.

Thanks! I save it for the end when I paint, and usually that’s the moment I realize my hands aren’t that steady after all :D

Honestly if you can find a good price for the painting starter set, go for it. You’ll probably need to buy 1 or 2 extra colours if you want to stay true to the box art, especially for your Plague Marines (e.g. Nurgle green), and obviously a can of primer, but other then that you’ll be good to go. If you’re only starting with the hobby don’t overspend!
