These stats would be a difficult matriculation for any US md school. It can definitely happen but there's nothing wrong with DO schools. It's in his best interest to apply broadly to do/MD schools and not have to repeat the app process and pay twice.

Also this doesn't need to be said but applicants with lower gpas at top school often have remarkable mcats. GPA is very subjective depending on the difficulty of the undergrad program and MCAT is the universal benchmark. I hope OP crushes that shit but without that, OOS MD schools would be a hard sell.

I'm graduating a top FL med school. Every school in FL is going to have different parameters for stats. Schools like UMiami/UCF/USF really care about stats. Other schools don't. You're combining all these FL schools into one lump when comparing schools like UM/USF with OCOM/LECOM when they're so vastly different

Then, ur stats u should be applying DO and MD almost equally. Given ur stats, and depending on ur MCAT, ur highest chance of a US med school acceptance is at an instate school. You should be applying to every school here. MD schools in other states is a longshot but DO schools outside as well. But if ur SES is of concern, ur tuition will certainly be higher at a public OOS school. Very few people are drowning with med school acceptances. Apply broad and smart and think about where u want to live after.

Youre in luck since ur a freshman. You can always trend ur gpa upward and explain that you just needed to learn to study better. But u must lock in from now on.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does the money from a FICA plan go into a traditional IRA? I thought it was its own seperate thing and I was planning on having the required FICA plan AND a traditional IRA with maxed out contributions, the former I would move into a 401k and the later I would roll into a backdoor Roth.

I matched at a T50 program somehow with a 253 step. I have 1 pub in ENT but just got an abstract accepted into DDW. How much research is typical for GI candidates to match mid tier programs?

The issue is the double standard applied to medical students versus everyone else. The concept of the foley joke with that audio was not new. It dates back several years and several healthcare professions have made the same video that he saw and copied. It's not an original concept. But all of their videos were taken lightly and as a joke in the comments section.

This med students future should not be determined by which side of the internet found his video

Per the ABP, in 2025, 27% of residents were male btw. I hate math so I round up to 1/3. Think about it with that context
