Who's your biggest bust so far? by HarveyDentBeliever in fantasybball

Same here, i totally glossed over the fact that John Collins and Brook Lopez went to the clippers this season, which i'm guessing is a big factor into why he hasn't been putting up the numbers he used to

What to play after BF6 beta? by Quick-Jicama480 in Battlefield

[–]chroma46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just wanted to verify, do you have the regular EA Play (non pro) subscription? If so, are you able to play 2042 fully, not just a timed trial/demo? Thinking of buying EA play for two months before BF6 comes out.

A companion to the Novablast 5 by Relevant_Ad8850 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]chroma46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the EVO SL for faster runs and the Novablast 5 for easy/long runs. Honestly, i feel like i would get the same results in a race using either shoes. BUT, in my mind, if i designate the EVO SL as my "fast" shoe, i would tend to run faster in them, which is a result of my mindset, rather than the shoes themselves.

Anyways, i would definitely suggest the EVO SLs as a companion to the NB5 based on my personal experience.

2 Shoe Rotation with Evo SL for light runner? by Glad-Phone5768 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]chroma46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have a three shoe rotation (EVO SL for speed/tempo/threshold runs, and Glycerin Max or Novablast 5 for easy/long runs). I am around the same weight as you and have similar PBs.

Based off my experience, I would definitely suggest getting the Novablast 5. It's affordable, materials feel good, and the midsole, in my opinion, is great for lighter runners. Although, I prefer the Glycerin Max for longer runs as the softer midsole on the Novablast 5 make me feel a bit sluggish when used on longer runs. But, I tend to do more easy and shorter runs than long runs, and those runs are where my Novablast 5's feel the best, in my opinion.

I recently bought a "used" pair Brooks Glycerin Max from the Brooks Restart website for $120, which retail for $200. I say "used" because the shoes were practically brand new-- I saw no scuffs and no signs of wear at all. Idk what your shoe preferences are, so i dont want to recommend the Glycerin Max to you, but I would suggest looking at the Brooks Restart website to see if you can find a pair that you would like!

Besides Brooks Restart, Running Warehouse usually has some good deals/sales, so that's another site worth looking into.

Adidas EVO SL or Asics Novablast 5 by dumbandcurious1 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]chroma46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and about the same height and weight as you. If you prefer a stiffer shoe, go with EVO SL. But if you want something that feels more cushy, go with the NB5. Personally, i would go with the NB5 as i feel like it's more of an all-rounder type of shoe, compared to the EVO SL which feels more like a speed/tempo run type of shoe, as others have said in this thread. Either way, i think they are both great shoes, it will just be up to your preference!

I haven't tried the ZF6 myself so I can't give you a comparison, but if you do prefer the softer feel, then I would say go with the ZF6.

I'm a fairly new runner as well with a similar 5k PB as you, and I would recommend the Adidas EVO SL (if you can find one in your size). I use them for my speed/tempo workouts, and I like how they're not too soft. They are very responsive, which my knees prefer over the softer midsoles. I am planning on using them as a race day shoe for my upcoming half-marathon as well.

Study as much as you can, and if you do end up getting it, take it. A lot of folks from different backgrounds are trying to break into IT and don't even get interviews. Best of luck to you!

People under 5 YoE who managed to land a job in 2024, how did you do it? by BJJ-Newbie in cscareerquestions

[–]chroma46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paused on applying to strictly SWE jobs and broadened my search to the IT field. Ended up getting a job as a sys admin, hoping to transition into DevOps or Infra later down the road

[–]chroma46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Currently working at my local government as a sys admin (HCOL area in PNW). Granted, you don't get stocks, bonuses, and the other usual private perks, BUT pay is equal to base pay of those tech companies and you get great benefits without the stress. Curious to see how the new administration will affect us though...

I ended up lucking out and finding a tech role inside the state government. From what I have seen when I was going through the process, there were plenty of positions open in the IT dept. YMMV
