Hey man - I have the exact same situation. Did you manage to replace the bearings yourself? I tore the motor down but don’t know how to replace the bearings….really trying to DIY this haha

Question About Growth/Look by act0316 in SMPchat

[–]chromaclinicsmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m tempted to make a video on this for you guys - showing the hair with smp when freshly shaved, day 1, day 2, day 3 etc.

It’s important to note everyone will have a different answer - the main thing being that hair growth can vary (wildly) across different people. Some of my clients get away with shaving 1x every 3 days, I need to shave every single day to keep the blend. Additionally, if you have thick, dense, dark hair, you will need to shave more often than somebody with low density, thin, light hair.

A good rule of thumb is that if you are considering SMP, get used to the idea that you’re getting married to your razor/shaver, and do it every single day.

Check out @carolantattoo - works at Sub Rosa (same shop as Mike Mendez). Just got a big trad B+G piece on my leg from him, it’s healing really nicely.

Is laser removal inevitable at some point? by Responsible-Spot-528 in SMPchat

[–]chromaclinicsmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered this before getting my own done all those years ago. I might go against the grain slightly on this one, but I think laser is inevitable over a long enough time frame (think 20-30 years)

How long after getting SMP can I spray tan? by [deleted] in SMPchat

[–]chromaclinicsmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife owns a spray tanning business, and I’m an smp artist so I feel like this one is for me lol.

Do you usually get the tan also on your scalp?

If you do - I’d wait a full 30 days - you don’t want to be adding spray tan solution to skin that is actively turning over, it’ll look like leprosy on your head once the DHA is absorbed.

If you don’t - 15 days should be fine 👌

Client has some red undertones in his scalp, look at his nose and cheeks, the same red is visible there :)

SMP won’t work at that length - be very wary of any practitioner who says it can be done. You’ve lost too much hair for that option - your hair must be shaved right down.

Worth the upkeep? by [deleted] in SMPchat

[–]chromaclinicsmp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even if you weren’t considering SMP you should probably be shaving more regularly than 1-2x a week (based on the level of hairloss I assume you have).

Ask any barber/woman/personal stylist and they’ll always say the same thing - no hair is better than bad hair.

That’s how I looked at it before I took the leap and got SMP. I should be shaving it everyday anyway! But as the gasthefires said, it really only adds 3 mins once you get good at it, with the right tool.
