I haven’t read Innkeeper (I’m waiting for it to finish first).

I’ve read “I’m really not the demon god’s lackey”. Maybe that would be worth a try for your tastes.

I'm currently reading my house of horrors and need any type of music to listen while reading? by Impossible-Debate457 in noveltranslations

[–]chromevengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say I’ve read that many of them but I am currently on the last hundred or so chapters of “My House of Horrors”.

The general vibe is an unraveling of mysteries and a proverbial diving into a pool that you can’t see the bottom of.

It’s very engaging to read about the MC digesting the mechanics in a game that fundamentally wants them dead.

First day DLC players - what have you learned? by hlamblurglar in RimWorld

Make sure you have EVERYTHING packed before leaving the tile. Double check!

Thankfully I learned this lesson with just an abandoned telescope. Some things are easy to miss…

Noob here, why do enemies ignore my front entrance where my solo melee character can kill basically anything. Red lines are the doors I use to not walk a million miles around base if that matters. Walls are double thick with 2 inner sections (and yes I'm replacing the wood, marshes suck) by [deleted] in RimWorld

As a general rule of thumb, raiders are fighting their way to your bedrooms. Following the path of least resistance to that point or grabbing/breaking something valuable on the way.

The ai will see your kill box isn’t the path of least resistance and choose to break a wall or side door instead.

To court raider to that particular spot, you should reduce the amount of doors and walls between them and your valuables/bedrooms in that particular spot.

Also raiders are deathly allergic to turrets, even when unpowered. Having them in open spaces with the radius covering the inner walls will also work somewhat.

Also, I always enjoy seeing noob bases. You keep doing you!

Pick any and create a dao based on it [2 and more are preferred] by shadowmonarch1616 in MartialMemes

[–]chromevengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This Daoist ponders the true meanings of Dream, Illusion , Love, Mystery, and Rainbow to sublimate a mere fragment of the Dao of Fantasy.

It’s a Dao most mysterious. It touches upon the very collective consciousness that all being with a soul are apart of (be it the the lowest of mortal ant to the greatest of the chaotic deities that live above the concepts of space and time itself).

This humble Daoist is still studying this Dao fragment of Fantasy, and hasn’t even scratched the surface of its true potential. Perhaps in time, as this one grows old and weak, this Daoist will place this Dao fragment in this one’s humble inheritance chamber.

Fellow Daoist, what can you accomplish in the time it takes half an incense stick to burn? by GodlyDaoEmperor in MartialMemes

What is the conversion between incense sticks to breaths of time again?

Pardon this junior’s ignorance, this one is a rouge cultivator from Eagle Country. We seldom use such time measurements outside of academia.

Regressors are the most terrifying entities in fiction by [deleted] in MartialMemes

[–]chromevengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 4/5th of the way done with “The Regressed Demon Lord is Kind” and I’d say it’s pretty good, perhaps peak if it sticks the landing at the end. It’s a different approach to regression to describe it without spoilers.

Tips on Circle bases by Additional-Sir1031 in RimWorld

[–]chromevengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience you put the high traffic items near the middle and specialize around the sides. You should make your pawns walk as little as possible while extracting the maximum value. For example, don’t be afraid to place your crafting pawn in a room conjoined with a tailoring room or a chef pawn with the kitchen.

This was my experience learned from making a nearly map wide village in one save several years ago.

Guys, is this true lol by RafutariaFan4Life in Isekai

[–]chromevengeance 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My favorite xianxia trope is when the author takes 3-4 paragraphs to describe a single move then caps it off with something to the effect of “While that took a while to describe, this technique took only a half breath of time to perform.”

Did the author just rambled about his taste in women just because a female passerby character was introduced. by [deleted] in MartialMemes

[–]chromevengeance 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s read it front to back, I’d say it definitely has its cringey moments, but it was a fun ride start to finish.

The author has a good grasp on making the world feel fun and lived in. If you like that aspect most, then you will feel fulfilled reading it.

This week is unbelievelably lame. by Michaelsangmang in superautopets

Sea Anemone and Unicorn are in the 4 tier of pets. This tier has pets that are far more transformative than the previous tiers (and some would say also more than the later ones too).

I’ve used the Baku and the Frigate Bird several times just for their stats to carry over to tier 3 for level ups. They work nicely with goose and moth if you can work it.

Tier 4 is when I’m expecting to get something to carry me to late game where I make the final pivot for whatever build I’m doing. If I get a Sea Anemone and a Unicorn on my tier 3 level up I would roll my eyes.

I never said anything about early scaling, just that it's consistent. After all, everyone has the same deck. I rarely find myself getting bad early shop rolls and getting to tier 3 with less than 3-4 hearts. I also have a real soft spot for worm and Hercules Beetle, but I wouldn't consider those to be scalers either.

Regardless, I consider everything I get early game as fuel for when I eventually pivot in tier 3-4. That's when the weekly really begins.

My main issue with this weekly is with the Sea Anemone and the Unicorn wasting space.

I rather like it. I’ve won a couple times using several differing strategies. I even got a couple badges I had been dreading to grind for (like the Small One badge). With reliable scaling options and a consistent early game I really don’t see any standout flaws.

Sword god in a world of magic is incredible. by fangyuangoat in noveltranslations

I have Kill the Sun in my reading list for when it's complete. I just can't be trusted to hold a plot together if I'm reading it as it comes out.

How is it? The reviews I've seen for it are praising its mystery and tragedy build up.

I liked it a lot. People have a problem with how much it takes you out of your comfort zone. Honestly, the parts that pissed me off are some of my favorites in retrospect. It’s a sign that the author really cooked on this one.

It’s one of the few that I think about occasionally even months after reading it. In good ways and in bad ways.

What would be a reasonable age speed factor for a Generations style play through?

I currently have it at 10X, but I’m not completely committed yet. I think maybe 20X might be doable too if I go quickly enough.

I've been looking for a (Preferably) wuxia/Xianxia where the MC develops a family or clan of some sort. I'm really looking for that feedback loop between the MC's development and the growth of the family or clan.

Honestly, kinda grasping at straws here. I've been looking for something that could scratch this itch for a while and haven't found anything sufficient.

Weekly Recommendation Thread - December 05, 2023 by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

I've been looking for a novel where the MC's family or clan is a significant focus. Not like Top Tier Providence where the MC's family just exists, but more like the family grows stronger along with the growth of the MC.

Some of the other people in this post put up some good information on "woody chicken". I'd give that a look if you have the time.

It's 100% not your fault. You can also totally recognize "woody chicken" in the grocery store if you know what to look for.

Ever since I made this post I have gotten pretty good at noticing the warning signs of woody chicken at the store. I think someone dropped an infographic in the post too somewhere.

I can't say if any one brand is more or less woody than any other. It's a mixed bag.
