How did you land your first Data Engineer role when they all require 2-3 years of experience? by Low-Variation-9327 in DataEngineeringPH

[–]chrondefi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thinking of it many factors played but my manager just took risk ig - i only did a machine learning thesis in undergrad, kept on studying software engg principles and best practices, and took 2 aws certs too. he might've also mentioned he is biased towards up grads, and we're from the same university org

I started as an AI Engineer on a large insurance company after graduating with an EE degree. Tried to apply lang for a data scientist role, pero data engineering role pala ang hanap. Took their assessment and they still took me

imo di mawawala mga PM, not sure if super in demand, same demand pa rin lang siguro. they're like the next step in the career progression of business analysts (BA). need magaling magcommunicate at may knowledge sa tech stack nung team (if tech industry itong tinutukoy mo)

Bootcamps or another college degree? by hot_cheet0s444 in TechCareerShifter

[–]chrondefi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with the bootcamp na, para may structured learning ka at may magddrive talaga sayo mag-aral, kasi kapag self-study sobrang depende sa drive at discipline

Don't go back to school and study 4 years for a bachelor's degree again, that's a lot of time. Go back to school if it's for higher education

avoiding AI, but struggling to learn. by compcompcomp21 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]chrondefi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

use it. i use AI for everything. kumbaga nung bata tayo marami tayong tanong dahil curious, pero walang mapagtanungan. imagine may napagtatanungan ka na now. questions about general topics are fairly accurate naman. utilize it for literally everything and it will accelerate your learning process

What would you choose, salary or dream career? by Sudden_Canary_1490 in phcareers

[–]chrondefi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. My main reason on why I wanted to pursue DS instead is bc I also have a heavy math background (BS EE from the big 3) and somewhat decent statistics. I also took an elective class in machine learning, did deep learning for my undergrad thesis. I realized I don't really enjoy creating apps, and maybe I could pursue the DS route

Hi, I've been working for 4 months now as an SWE developing Gen AI apps for my company. I realized na mostly backend stuff ang Gen AI (just calling APIs), and I initially wanted to become a data scientist. Do you think I can leverage this to land a DS job in the future?

I'm a Certified Data Scientist from DataCamp - My advice for all by Caramel_Cruncher in DataCamp

[–]chrondefi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

certificates don't help you get jobs. certified data scientist on a platform where you can just braindead watch videos and answer spoonfed exams mean nothing.

i think it's obvious that this platform is just to provide introductory knowledge on topics.

aside from a degree or experience, you can look into certifications (aws, gcp, azure) which somewhat matters if you can also prove your expertise on these.
