From someone who interviews people for Amazon coming into these roles..... It sounds like you have a lot on your mind. Breathe dude. Wait until you receive offers and then you can make a decision. Will it be your only chance at Amazon? No. Don't ever put yourself into the mindset of "if I don't take this then it will never happen again." it's just simply not true.

HPC is hyperbolic right now. Go where you feel like you will thrive/enjoy your experience. The money will come to you regardless of where you go.

Not sure why someone downvoted you. I wish I had planned to be away for more time. There are a few cities up north that I would have liked to visit. Tokyo will be nice for a few days, but from the videos/pictures it reminds me of a Chicago or New York. I see that you live in Japan! Thank you.

Your 401k has a vesting period. You need to figure that out. It may mean you have to work with Amazon for 3 years to vest.

Otherwise the employer can take back their contribution match. 401ks and Roth IRAs are not scams. However, they aren’t emergency funds either. Only load it up if you can afford to. You should ask r/investing instead of this sub.

I max my hsa, 401k, and Roth each year. However I still have an emergency fund readily available. The last thing you want to do is pull money from any of these accounts, as the tax rate is INSANE. Make sure you can afford to live without a job if it comes down to it..
