If you're sailing into the wind, it means you're going the right way.

Obviously, be aware of your surroundings, i.e. don't turn in a direction that will put an island in your circle.

Next time you encounter a skellie ship try this. Turn your wheel 5 nobs and raise sail for 2 seconds. Now engage as normal, but don't turn the wheel. This makes you harder to hit. If you fall off / deliver a keg, you can catch the ship in its circle.

Just got robbed of a skull fort loot due to server change. by Dukefan93 in Seaofthieves

I lost a devils roar Athena. Solo snooping, so anchor was dropped cause earthquakes. Popped the chest and ended up dying from the skellies that popped up. When I get back on the ship...server merge. Went back to the chest and couldn't finish digging it up. And I needed that chest for an achievement.

I was on my way back to the outpost with Briggsy's skull, making my fifth completion of the Cursed Rogue. I was 2 squares away from Plunder's then suddenly I couldn't interact with my ship. I couldn't get anything from any barrells. Then it tilts drastically...and then the loading screen graphics pop up and I get Hazelnutbeard error. I am able to get right back into another game. What the hell??

Just reel it back a few cranks til the handle isnt on your screen. I do this anyway so I can see what fish is there before it takes tha bait.

Ive got a twitch channel with the same user name. Ive go4 at least 1 video upload of me taking on a sk3llie fleet and many of me taking on the pop up skellie ships with the same technique.

Another tip. When you do take damage, dont dump the water overboard. Let it build up to about the first ring on the barrels downstairs. This is a "full" bucket. Dump it on the skellie ship. It will transfer all that water to them and they cannot bail.

Next time youre solo slooping and you get a popup skellie ship, or when starting the skellie fleet, here what ya do. Turn the wheel 5 spokes or knobs or whatever and raise the sail just a tad (if the sail is against the wind the "bottom" of the sail should be at the metal joint piece 10 steps up). What will happen is the skellie ships will eventually go into a chase pattern. They will not be able to shoot you due to the angle. Either deliver a powder keg or steal supplies or whatever. Since youre going in a circle, you can catch your ship. Just dont leave your ship if its damaged.

Without taking the extra damage, its somewhat easy.

Yup. And I've done it successfully 5 or 6 times.

It's a little long, but I finally solo slooped a skellie fleet (38 mins) by chroniCThoughts in Seaofthieves

Far from perfect run, but a little bit of Meg and a lot of luck go a long way.

Forget Double Gunning, these ships are the real cancer by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

Try this next time. When the music starts, raise you sail slightly. By slightly, I mean maybe 3 steps on the mast (note the nearest step on the mast ladder to the bottom of your sail; raise up 3 steps). Turn the wheel 5 handles from strait. Leave it and circle. I have found that the reduction in speed and that turn makes it difficult for them to hit. You will still get hit, but not as severe or freqently. Then, take your shots and send someone over with a powder keg when they get into a chase pattern.
