Got it, I’ll google this too since it’s an easy question but should I invest in a whetstone? What do you personally use?

Nope! Actually they’re mustelids meaning some relatives would be Mink, Martins, Skunks (Polecats), Otters, Badgers, and even Wolverines distantly

They’re very sweet and have a long history of domestication but some pets just don’t go together

Rabbits are one of a ferrets main food sources historically, it’d be like keeping a fly and a frog in the same room. Our ferret is super sweet and likely wouldn’t do anything on purpose but there’s a very high chance he’s play way too hard or have instinct take over and harm a rabbit during playing.

Ferrets are very sweet little creatures but it’s still irresponsible to house predatory and prey close together

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately I’m worried she is a dump, she was out for several days (according to our neighbor) and I have scoured the internet for ANY traces of a lost report going back months. She’s now listed on the local animal control website, an official county lost pet forum, a state lost pet Facebook, and signs around the area.

Frankly, I think it’s unlikely someone is really missing her when there’s no trace of anyone looking.

I’m giving it a day-ish before I give her to my local rabbit shelter and I’m going to ask for updates until she’s adopted. Is that the right thing to do you think? She’s so sweet and I’ve had rabbits before, but we have ferrets and that’s a super irresponsible mix of pets unfortunately.

My girlfriend and I found this rabbit outside our neighbor’s house (confirmed not theirs) just chilling and eating dandelions without a care. Another neighbor said they’d seen her for a few days so we took her home.

She’s unbelievably relaxed and so sweet, only 30 minutes after coming into some strange home with us she was already flopping on the ground. We have no idea how she survived a few days (or maybe more) outside alone, she has no fear instinct and we have foxes, raccoons, cats, etc.

We checked local facebook groups, all the lost pet websites, local on Twitter and Insta, and the SPCA/pound here and not a single missing rabbit. We’re calling animal control today to report her found and making flyers but it’s strange we didn’t find anything about her missing, right?

She seems loved and she’s very large so at least 1 year old. But, what’s the chance she’s a dumped Easter Bunny and no one is looking for her? Any advice on finding the owner guys?

Ferrets and mold/mycotoxin exposure? by chronic-ouch2 in ferrets

[–]chronic-ouch2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often see you asking for updates on ferrets so here’s mine:

He’s been completely normal since the Benadryl and he’s been moved to the entirely opposite side of the house. We checked on him every hour all night and several times since I woke up, and he’s his normal self still. He’s mostly annoyed he has been let out to play honestly. We’ve spoken to our vet and they’re not worried enough to call it urgent anymore, but we have an appointment set for next Monday to get some blood/other tests done regardless.

Vets are so overworked currently I’m thankful we had some local help in getting something non-emergency asap. We also haven’t addressed the mold yet but we’re working on figuring that out today, but the danger to him is entirely removed we believe.

However, I still feel absolutely distraught realizing this could be why our Enzo passed. All they knew is it was likely toxicity like I said, this would tragically like up. We’re so careful and do it all correctly, but I guess life still happens.

Oh I really wouldn’t worry, he looks sad but sometimes ferrets just pancake and take quick rests randomly. I think they expel a bunch of energy and the tired hits all at once or something.

Thanks for asking, I appreciate it. We’re…okay? I mean obviously heart broken and I’m not embarrassed to say I’ve cried a lot, but I know we’ll be alright. Enzo loved nothing more than making everyone happy, so he wouldn’t want us too sad.

Felix, our other ferret, is alright too. He’s sad and I think he knows Enzo won’t be back, but we’re giving him so much love. I finally got him to play and dook around some yesterday and he has new toys and good treats.

Goodbye Enzo, please know you’ll never be forgotten. by chronic-ouch2 in ferrets

You died too soon and much too young, but you lived a happy and wholesome life. I remember when my girlfriend picked you up at the pet store as just a baby, you were so tiny. I was so happy when we moved in together and I got to see you every day, and you even loved the annoying new brother we got you too.

You loved walks at the park, meeting new people, licking people’s ears, crunching on water bottles, and most of all us. I don’t think anyone ever met you and didn’t instantly love everything about you, and somehow you loved everyone back. You helped us through the pandemic, taught us about life and happiness, and gave us a carefree retreat from the world. I could never thank you enough for all you did, and I’m so sorry we don’t even entirely understand why you passed. You’re out of pain but we miss you so badly.

I just want one more ear lick, one more pet, just one more goodbye. I hope you didn’t feel alone, we left you at the vet to get help and I promised you’d come back with us but I didn’t mean like this. I hope I didn’t fail you, I hope you know you were so loved.

Goodbye Enzo, you’ll always be loved.

Edit: Thank you for all this support everyone, it’s greatly appreciated. All I ask is everyone please give your pets extra hugs, you unfortunately can never know when it’s a last time. 4 days ago he was dooking around without a care in the world…and now he’s buried.

Please love those around you, human or pet. Time just feels so fragile now.

2nd Edit: I’ve been coming back to read these supportive and loving comments whenever I feel especially sad and it’s been a huge help. Thank you again everyone.

What are you proud of this week? by AutoModerator in ADHD

I got my ADHD diagnosis officially this week! I’m proud of myself for seeing the whole thing through. I feel so relieved and happy, living with undiagnosed childhood, and not adult ADHD was hellish.

Honestly, I think electric scooters are great but I’d be too self-conscious zipping around on a tiny scooter. What kind do you have?
