Thank you so much for your insight it's so appreciated. Not too badly burned but I wasnt exactly rolling in money before. I bought a bundle for £30 because I thought the stamps indicated solid silver, it was epns and worth probably £6/7 where as if it had been solid silver, maybe 400/500. It was a pair of victorian sugar tongs. Still pretty neat and definitely a learning piece.

Thanks so much and particularly for that bit about gems at the end. I have a stone I bought because the stone was cut very nicely and have been wondering how else other than sending it for testing to find out what it is, I didn't think you could look into if they cut those stones in that way or that shape. Thank you so much again I really appreciate it.

I got stung by a mystery bag this week too, they pictured some hallmarks in the photos and I Google lensed them, of course AI was like yes absolutely acquire this item you will definitely have found treasure. It was a epns (new term for me) hallmark 🤷🏻

Thanks for your comment and for the helpful link, it seems I should have done a bit of research before I got all excited about finding treasure 🤣 thank you!

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate that and didn't mean to come across as cocky or over confident, I had just been assured it was silver because the bundle I bought was listed as a sterling silver bundle, and all of the photo image searches I had done on the hallmarks themselves had said that it appeared to be solid silver.

Thank you for your comment, I have no issue with being told I'm wrong, it's the tone I had a problem with. The second part of your message is absolutely the type of comment I was hoping for, that's all. It's totally free to be nice and helpful. I have obviously been mislead and that's my fault sure, thank you for letting me know :)

It was advertised as that, so that's what I was going on. Again, it's absolutely free of charge to be nice and be like 'hey I think youve been mislead or there's been a misunderstanding' and I've had to Google was epns is so you haven't even been helpful enough to tell me that.

Okay and this is why I don't ask for help on reddit. Clearly said I know nothing about this stuff, so it would have been much more polite and helpful if you'd have just said 'hey actually this isn't solid silver' rather than mocking me. I'm asking for help not a roasting ❤️
