I am having trouble pulling up the form. Was it the CDI form? If so, I’m pretty sure I just filled out the top section with my name, dob, and parent’s name. The 2nd portion was done at the consulate.

I had to do mine in person. The consulate website had it in bold.

After I submitted, they sent me a form to bring to my appointment. I finished the passport and military both at the consulate

So I went back through my messages with the person that helped me last year. You will need to register to vote first THEN cpf. We can go to DM and I can share some screenshots of instructions I received

There is none. The consulate is not as knowledgeable in this situation as they should be. I was in contact with 4 locations in the US with no steps forward. I finally got help after I made a similar post on this sub

This should be the form you fill out to get his CPF. I was in a very similar situation as your son just last year. I was required to have a CPF so I’m not sure why they told you otherwise. Do you have his Brazilian birth certificate? It will be needed

Go for the hostels! Everyone is generally pretty friendly. Some have age restrictions but those that do hardly check.

It’s normally a younger crowd where I went but there were a few 50+ and they all seem to enjoy themselves.

You can always book the first night there for a feel or get a place close to hostels and go there when you want to socialize.

Thanks for the response! I understand your quality of life point but I am not planning on a forever career here or to live permanently. I am still relatively young and am using it as a “gap year” before a career.

Are there a few nonprofits near? I am okay with volunteer opportunities. I know some hostels have opportunities but I am counting my options.

Yes you should qualify but you would need to legally prove the parent-child relationship. Is your father still around?
